Hi SnwMan000
Welcome to the forums
You should contact American Accounts & Advisers immediately and ask them to validate your debt. Further if you find that the information in your credit report is wrong then you can dispute the same with the credit bureau. You should follow the following steps:
i. Lodge a complain with FTC if you have unsuccessfully tried to resolve the dispute with the credit bureau. This power is granted by the new FCRA law,2003.
ii. You should hire an attorney as he will be in a better position to help you in this legal battle.
iii. Before sending the dispute letter please attach with it a statement describing your side of the story.
But please remember to validate your debts from American Accounts & Advisors. If you do not receive any response then lodge a complain against them in FTC for violating fdcpa. To know further about FDCPA and your rights please click on the following link :

Hope you will find this information useful.

Hi SnwMan000
As you are unaware about the said debt, please dispute it with your credit bureau and the creditor to provide the necessary details about it.
They will have to present your accounts in the proper way otherwise you have the legal right to file a case against them as per the FCRA laws.

Negative information will stay on your credit report for as long
Negative information will stay on your credit report for as long as 7 years.
You can consider consolidation program to bring the accounts current and wipe off all the financial charges and the late fees from it. The debt consolidation program will help you in reducing the total amount of your debt by 40% to 60%.
Additionally, you will be offered easy monthly payments plans to make your repayment easier. After all the accounts are paid in full, your accounts will be reported as paid in full in your credit report.
You should try to settle this debt as early as possible so that it does not largely hurt your credit ratings in the future. You can also enter into a free counseling offered by this website and know your various available options.

Iam going to court tom. for a case regarding my Bank of america acct. I am working with a credit firm and they dropped the ball on this one. I wanted it settled before this. If I receive a judgement against me are there any laws that can help me if I am willing to pay entire amount with in 30 days? I live in california. Can this wipe the judgement away ASAP? Thanks

okay---from 'MY' experience...which might be totally different from you since I live in Tennessee. But I had a case go to court a few months ago. They dropped the paperwork off to me, and court was set up for 30 days from that day. I was to call the lawyer on the paper work (who was representing original creditor- SamsCLub). Lawyer gave me up until a week before the court date to have it paid in full and case would be dropped and no judgement on my report. I never heard anything about having 30 days afterwards as a grace period to pay it off and have it dropped. But maybe cali is different. This is just my experience. Shirley _________________ |
