your first step should be to obtain your credit reports from all three credit bureaus.

www.annualcreditreport.com is a site to obtain the reports for free, once a year. Check out your creditors listed on your report, then you will have an accurate picture of who you owe, and how much. Also, if you have any payday loans outstanding, if you can tell us the company names, we might be able to provide you with the contact information for those companies - they won't show up on your credit report, but could cause you no end of grief.

First of all, you need to pull your credit report. You are entitled to one free credit report from the 3 credit bureaus each year. Then once you have pulled your reports, you can see what you owe and then contact the orginial creditor and work out a payment plan or pay the bills in full.
