I have become a victim of pdls

Well first off, what pdl was they trying to collect for? Secondly you will not go to jail! This is a very famous threat. What state do you live in? How much have you paid so far?

In addition to the questions above, is this an internet-based or store front payday loan?

If you are sure about the debt with the loan company, make a partial payment. They will have to post it to your account. Once they receive couple of payments, try to work out arrangements with them. They cannot take legal actions because you already wrote the check. Make sure that you send the proposal in writing. This will prove about your actions taken.

Another point, check for the company license. If they want to take you to the court, they need to be licensed in your state. Most companies aren't.
