can they really send me to collections??

Well i took out a pay day loan sometimes it comes up as rio resources or now mte financial, i went to try to pay it off and the number just went like it was a fax machine, i have been searching for a number or website to contact them it is very hard. My bank cannot come up with any address or number to call them either. They just keep refinancing the loan and taking more money. I just closed my account today. The place says i still owe money, i told them that i took out a 300 dollar loan with a 90 finance charge and more than that has been taken from my account. They said i still owe because i refinanced so long. I diasagree because the numbers i was given to call to payoff the loan were no good. Can they really send me to collections????? Please help
