20,000 more troops are being deployed to Iraq

I know, it seriously scares the crap out of me. We have a moment of silence at work whenever a person from Michigan is killed..They are way too frequent.

Remember when they said that we 'won the war' a couple of years ago?

All we can do is support and pray for our guys and support the president in his decisions. No, it is not a popular idea these days, BUT it is my belief that we should support our lawmakers, and not be a divided nation. However, doesn't Bush have to get approval from Congress to deploy more troops? And with a democratic majority congress will that be possible?

Never will I support George Bush, nor any member of his cabinet. I have no faith in their integrity nor their competency.

OMG. I did not know they were also going into Iran and Syria. That is very scary. Sounds like Bush is trying to get his last digs in at the expense of our troops and their families. I seriously did not know they were now going into Iran and Syria.

GB just announced it a few minutes ago. He says that people in those countries are harboring terrorists and obstructing the pursuit of democracy in Iraq. I don't think they are going in full force with bombs, but it sounds like troops will be in hostile areas near the border.

That scares the sh*t out of me because of all of the nuclear testing that is going on over there. Wasn't it Iran that was testing their nuclear weapons and refused to stop? I know Korea was also one of these countries.

I don't think there is any need to worry about nuclear weapons. So many countries have them, the way I figure once the first one is launched, everyone will launch theirs and there won't be an earth left to live on. Self destruction within an hour.

That's true, Lorri. Congress does have to approve any additional monies for this and with a Democratic congress, you can bet your last dollar that this one is going to be scrutinized, as it should.
I have several issues with this. First off, it's a given that soldiers are going to get injured and will use the VA system, as they should. To my knowledge, the Bush Administration has not increased the VA budget by a dime! This is inexcusable!!
My husband tells me that he is starting to see Iraq vets at the VA clinic where he's treated for his health concerns, and he feels so bad that he's there, he now wants to stop going and give his spot to them! And my husband isn't well!
I totally support our troops but do not support an administration that actually tried to cut combat pay for the troops as they were being deployed. I'm sorry, just can't do it.
That's my rant for the day...say a prayer for our troops, they need it.

Well, I am not saying supporting George W. per say, but more a supporting of the government. I just think that if we (as a nation) don't appear as though we back our country, then others get the feeling we are not united (and I think that is very damaging). I don't always agree with the president's decisions. I personally think he is a big idiot sometimes (but maybe I have watched too much SNL) :lol:

Ok Lorri flip this idea. I think that because we are American and we have the right to use our voices to express just about any view under the son, that in the face of conflict we are always united. The whole world (except my parents lol) think GWB is a friggin idiot. If we all started saying yeah George Rocks the rest of the world would think we are brainwashed. Remember that Dave Chappelle movie where the fried chicken was brainwashing the masses? If the majority starts being GB lovin American's I think we would appear very vulnerable (not to mention nuts!)

Once I went to college (1973), and if I voiced ANY opinions that were away from the extreme RIGHT, he said that I was being taught by communists and his tax dollars were going to fund me becoming a hippie (which there was absolutely no danger of).

I used to just say stuff to get him going. Now, his memory isn't so good, so he doesn't get as frazzled.

The do nothing White House and the do nothing Congress. From the stealing of the election in the past two presidential votes thru the complete gutting of the middle class, the enormous debt that is being passed on to the US citizens, disgusting tax breaks for the wealthy 1% of the country and large corporations......I won't go on. Just thinking about it makes me sick.

This whole subject has me wild with rage! My daughter joined the army National Guard in August to help her get service time for her regular job (she is a prison guard for the state of Ohio). The last time she was passed up for promotion she was told that the reason was no service time - the person who got the promotion had the same amount of time my daughter di but had service time. So she joined. They made her an MP. When she was home for Christmas - she said that umor has it the will probably be deployed! When she graduates next week, she thinks that she will get her orders! I was a Viet Nam protester and I have a bad feeling about this war - de ja vous!

And besides the 3000 of ours that have died, let's not forget about the thousands and thousands or Iraqis that have died. Many of them had little opinion about this whole deal. They were just living their lives the best they could, and now, because of Cowboy Dubya, Slick Dick and their desire to fill their pockets (see Halliburton), their lives are worse.

And all Americans look like total @ssholes because of a select few.

I knew when this baffoon got into office that he was just power hungry and wanted to finish the job that his father couldn't! When baffoon sr. stopped shwartzcoff (?) from bombing in desert storm it set all of this in motion and jr thinks needs to fix it by having our troups in every nook and cranny in the middle east. If it had been down right the first time we all could be going to las vegas middle east on gambling jaunts! But then this is just my lowly opinion.
