Credit Card Debt after Holder Dies

I am living with a "Life Partner", due to Social Security rules we can not afford to get married. If I die with credit card debt on cards I signed alone, does my Partner have an obligation to pay? She is benificary on two small insurance policies I own. We reside in California.

The credit card company will first try to collect the debt from
The credit card company will first try to collect the debt from the estate. If the debt belongs solely to the deceased, then the credit card company will end up eating the debt if there aren't enough assets to cover it.
