In my situation a debt consolidation company could help me alot. I'm scared though because there's alot of scamming companies. If any knows of some legitimate companies that can help me I would like to know of them. Thank You

Always make sure that you research the company with the local AG and the BBB. The consumers will first post the complaints/feedbacks there if any business has a bad reputation. Your research will help to know the truth regarding any company. You can also do some useful research in the FTC website and in the internet.

TSmith, I agree. You should research debt consolidation companies to see what their track record is. Remember, a few require that you pay a fee up front. You may also want to consider working out a payment arrangement with the creditors on your own which may very well be cheaper.

It might also help if you list which creditors you have and what state you live in. Are they payday loans, unsecured loans or credit cards?

Please don't be afraid. A lot of times, these creditors have a tendency to put the fear in us so much so that we can't sleep at night. You have to go into this unafraid because the vultures are waiting to attack you. Trust me, I know.
