The dawn of a new age is coming upon the skip tracers for collection agencies. Their new tool is the internet and the useful search browsers that are used to look up information.

I am not here to tell you how to hide from your debts. I am just making you aware that the internet is not only a high risk for fraud and id theft but also a way to find people who owe debts.

Google, Yahoo, Froogle, My Space, Blogging, Posting on ANY internet forum, Monster.com.. any place where you might list you name, city, job, address.. ect.

This is all completely legal, I would think it would be even more legal than useing information on your credit report because you are willingly leaving imprints of yourself all over the place.

You aren't really safe anywhere becuase you are leaving an ip address when you post even on places like this. Granted I don't believe that the persons running this site would just go out giving your ip address but can you say the same for everywhere you post?

So be careful and thoughtful when posting any information that is personal on the internet. It doesn't matter where it is, just think about it before you click submit.

I trust online bill payment. The key is that you are paying through an encrypted site. Look for that "lock" in the status bar. If you don't see it, the page is WIDE open to get stolen.

Your best bet is to only pay companies you trust completely online. I pay most of my bills via mycheckfree.com. Totally free. All you need is a bank account. It has to be checking, though. I was using a savings account for 2 years until my bank got bought out (Harris Bank sucks).

I agree with Jeff on Billpay. It has to be encrypted or it's worthless. I pay about half of my bills on line and it really works for me. I like it because I don't have to worry about postage and it cuts down on the number of checks I have to write. I have also never had a problem with information being stolen, so I do have faith in the system.
