How long have you been using the services of HK? I am not sure if they will refund you the full amount because of the time and labor invested towards your account? Did they give you any specific timeframe when your accounts will be negotiated with the creditors?

I've been with them since August and was told a couple of weeks ago that I have $548 in my settlement account, and I am entitled to get that back. They took their retainer fee up front and since August, have only sent out 3 letters to creditors. One was a settlement offer to a pdl (CTC) who of course did not respond. The other two letters were not negotiations for a settlement, but rather letters to two of the pdl companies (one being CTC again) stating that they have reason to believe the interest figured on the loan was calculated incorrectly, and they wanted it to be refigured. A scum bag pdl is not going to voluntarily do that because that received this letter. So that's the extent of what they've done for me.

Make sure that you have gone through the fine print carefully before canceling the contract with HK. Cash Transfer Center is already violating so many laws in most states. I don't know if your settlement company would have been able to arrange everything right with them. One thing is for sure, you don't need to be worried about CTC. They cannot do anything on you. HK is a bigger concern right now.

Oh, I'm not worried about CTC, and knew that they would not respond to Hess Kennedy's letter. I have checked the paperwork I was given when I signed up with Hess Kennedy, and it does state that clients are entitled to a full refund of money accrued in their settlement accounts if they wish to discontinue services. But, if they are ignoring my fax and emails, I will have to call (and sit on hold for 50 years), as well as send a certifed letter. At least my checking account is closed due to switching banks, so they can't continue to debit it twice a month.
