Just a reminder, there's a very important special on 20/20 (on ABC) tonight at 10:00 EST. It's about debt and credit - and unlawful debt collection is going to be featured as well. I think it's a program well worth watching for all of us.

Sue I will be tuning in. It will probably make me sick. I listened to the recordings. Its a shame people have to be treated that way. KYSIDE38

One of my managers at work sent us all an e-mail warning us about it, saying to expect debtors to confront us with the information on it.

Another corrupt junk debt collection agency. I really don't give one flying fart if the collection industry gets yet another cream pie thrown in it's face. Like I haven't thrown enough already in this forum.

America need collection agency, without collection agency. lots of banks will go out of business. Then America has to bail out banks and tax payers are paying for consumer debts. so whom is the scammers a debtor ot a collection agency. all this Advocate are sad the tell people collection agencies are fraud. if the are paying thier bill the would not be in collection. it's thats simple.

To the TROLL above please do not make judgments??about people here on this forum. You do not know everyone's financial situation.??Us members??on this forum are not saying all CA are frauds. But we??have seen many cases in which CAs use abusive collection tactics and do not follow the laws.

It is just not that simple as you stated. Life happens, Stuff happens, and people fall on hard times. Unless you have an infinite wallet and can pay everyone's debt please do make judgments. I see no relevance in your post that contributes to this thread. Please leave now.

i am not making a judgement on anymore. you are correct, everyone situation is different. when start grouping all collection agencies together, then thats wrong. i have seen consumer whom have used up to 60,000 dollars in loan for cars, loans. 75 percent of consumer in america are able to pay thier debt. they just choose not too, because they rather have lavish christmas or take expensive vacation than pay thier bills. consumer turn around and get upset when a collection agencies call.

Guest, if you had taken the time to watch the 20/20 special that this original thread was about (which I doubt you did, since this thread was 2 years old when you responded to it), you would have seen that the 20/20 special was about BAD collection agencies - not ALL collection agencies. No one in this thread has grouped all collection agencies together - and I know of no one in this thread who has had a "lavish christmas or expensive vacation" instead of paying their bills.

Once again that is one case to a million people who are in debt. Every person has not got into debt carelessly. Even if they did we are here to help them out of it. That is the point of the forum!

Seems you did not read before you posted, because your information is incorrect. No one stated all CAs were breaking the law, but then again you probably never watched the 20/20 special or Dateline special. We are here to help not punish people for sharing their stories. They get enough of that from bottom feeding CAs who are breaking the law.

If you want to vent you can do it elswhere.
