I just got a letter from Clout Visa saying I was behind on payments. Im 2 months behind and owe $3300. I also own CItibank $3200 but am not behind and CHase bank $60 and am not behind. Is it okay to settle the Clout card and flat out pay the rest in full? Is it too soon to try to ask for settlement from clout? And if I handle the settlement on my own will that affect negativly on my credit report? And how much should I offer? I will have $1300 cash next week.
Thank you all!

You are 2 months behind in your payment with Clout Visa. Most companies will not allow you a settlement at this moment. The concept goes like the longer the account is delinquent; it can be negotiated for a lesser amount. However, a good negotiation will result 60 percent to 75 percent of the total amount.

You can take the advice of a debt counselor and get good arrangements done with your creditors. He can also arrange lower interest rates on all your debts.

The credit will look good if any of your account is not reported as "settled". You must get a "Paid" or "Paid in full" status because this will boost your credit at the maximum. Get more help in the DIY section and propose your settlement offer in writing. You need to have documentation for proof.
