Hello my name is Jaquie and this is my first post. I have a looming creditor and am not sure as the direction I need to take to deal with them. All 3 agencies report differently and I'm not sure which is accurate. I have previously disputed them with Experian and Exquifax through the credit reporting agencies and Midland does not appear as a negative item on both those reports, but it does on Transunion. This is a debt from long ago and honestly I haven't heard a word from Midland in years about this account. I need advice on how to clear up this matter.

I have just obtained my credit report and have a couple of questions regarding a collection showing on my report:
Collection #1
Collection Agency MIDLAND CRED
Original Creditor ASSOCIATES
Account Number XXXXXXXXX
Whose Account Individual Account
Date Assigned May, 2005
Date Reported June, 2006
Amount $X
Balance $X
Date Paid Out Not on record
Date Closed Not on record

This is reporting on Transunion but under my account summary is does not show as a creditor.

Under Equifax is shows as a creditor under my account summary, but not as a collections. It shows as being disputed by myself on the report.
MIDLAND
Account Number Not on record
Account Type Open Account
Credit Limit
(High Credit)
$X
Minimum Monthly Payment (Terms) $0
Date Opened Not on Record
Date of Last Activity October, 2000

and lastly on Experian is shows as a creditor under my account summary, but not in collections. This also shows as being disputed by myself on the report.
midland credit management
Account Number XXXXXXXXX
Account Type Installment
Credit Limit
(High Credit)

Minimum Monthly Payment (Terms)

Date Opened May, 2005
Date of Status October, 2000
Last Payment Date Not on Record
Loan Type Unknown - Credit Extension, Review, Or Collection

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to deal with this matter expediously. Since it has been many years I do not have my original account number and am unsure of how to contact Midland Credit Management. I would like to do so in writing, so if anyone has the address and any suggestions as to a proper format, that would be great.

Thanks for any help,
Jaquie

I found my credit report from 9/3/2005 and it states for Transunion:

Assoc/CITI
Date open 2/2/2000
Balance $XXX

Balance Limit $XXX
Past Due$XXX

Payment status: Charged off as bad debt
Comments: Canceled by credit grantor

My concern is that I addressed this back in 2005 and have received exactly NOTHING by mail in an attempt to collect the information. Why would Midland report this as a collection and never send me a single piece of mail or call. I thought I'd made the payment years ago and I'll have to dig through my old checkbooks to find it. I just don't understand this at all.

Jaquie

Midland appeared on my credit report as a collection account with all three bureaus about a year ago. I disputed as "No knowledge of account" and it was deleted within 30 days. It appears you have already disputed. It should be deleted if they can't validate the debt. If the credit bureau reports that the debt is verified, request validation via certified letter (and copy the credit bureaus with the letter you send Midland - their address should be on your credit report). With the date of last activity being reported as 10/2000, it is due to drop off your credit report soon anyway - and I don't know where you are located, but chances are the debt is beyond the statute of limitations already.

Okay, so this is the address I found for Midland Credit Agency:

8875 Aero Dr. Ste. 200
San Diego, CA 92123

Do you know the proper address, since you've had to deal with them. I have no letters from them, so therefore no address.

So, I send a DV letter to them certified mail with a return receipt? Then send a copy of the letter I send to MCM to all three credit bureaus? I thought this debt had been taken care of years ago when I dealt with a local collector in Colorado (where I lived at the time) I'm now in Texas. I just want it taken care of, whatever means necessary. I have disputed the collections with Equifax and Experian, but both still show up on the reports, although neither show up under the negative items area, so I assume that this past account will show up, just not negatively. Did they remove the account from yours altogether?

Thanks for you help.
Jaquie
