From what you've posted, I would think enrolling in a debt consolidation program should help you get back on track by getting the credit card company to lower your interest rate and stop hitting you with late and overlimit fees.

Consolidate the debts and bring it current. You will have a lower interest rate in the repayment program. How long have been behind in the payments?
