I received a fdcpa notice for a collection agency for a debt that is not valid. The creditor indicated on the notice is indicated as EBAY, INC., and I have never made any purchases from, or sold anything through e-bay. The name and address of the collection agency on the notice matches the name and address your web site indicates for this agency, but the phone number does not. How would you recommend I proceed with getting more information? If the notice itself is fraudulent, I don't want to give these people any more info about myself than they already have. On the other hand, there may be a fraudulent e-bay account with my name on it that I will need to figure out how to dispute. I haven't been able to find help on e-bay's site.

You need to contact ebay's fraud dept. Ebay only works through email only so that can be a pain. Also, you may want to send a debt validation letter to that collector so that they have to prove to you that it is your debt. Most importantly, pull your credit report from all 3 three Credit Agencies and report that entry as fraudulent.
