Hi, I had been harassed by Bass and associates just before Christmas. After finding this forum, I did not call them back again. Last Friday, I got a call from Jackson Phillips asso. (said they were a Processing firm for filing charges). Their phone number is 1-800-871-7730. Has anyone else had any contact with these people? Their story was the sam, that they were going to have me arrested for fraud and bad checks - from a PDL that I have not repaid.

This is the same company, the give away is they called themselves a "Processing firm for filing charges". No such firm exists. File a complaint with Florida's Attorney General's office immediately. This is the same illegal threat this stupid a$$ company uses on all of its victims. DO NOT SEND THEM A DIME NOBODY IS FILING CHARGES AGAINST YOU AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO JAIL.

Call the original company and make your payment arrangements directly with them. Avoid Bass and Associates as long as your account is getting paid to the original company. When the CA harasses you for payments, ask them to validate the account in writing. It is your legal right to ask for the info and confirm that they are authorized for collecting money from you.

I was contacted by Allen Lewis & Associates after Christmas myself. They would not give me their address on the phone or tell me what type of company they were. A little research gave me that information. I got all kinds of criminal threats regarding a payday loan company that I have been fighting over a year. File a complaint with the FTC as well as the AG's office in your state. They have never validated my dv request yet.

I have a troop that was contacted today by Jackson, Phillips & Associates Corp. They basically tried to strongarm her into making an $800 payment today and threatened a law suite. She told them she could pay the balance in full on 1 Feb, but they said their client (Platinum B Services) would not allow them to extend it out to another week. I told her not to offer any further payments until they provided info that the debt was valid. The person told her he didn't have to provide her with anything and that he represented Platinum B and not her. Typical debt collection crap. So he just screwed his client out of their payment. We're going to send a letter, certified mail return receipt requested, requesting debt validation. Then let him tell her he doesn't have to provide her with anything. I did find their address at the BBB website.

Hi. Last week I received a call at work from Cal Gregory of Jackson, Phillips, and Associates. He left a message on my voicemail stating that he was calling on my behalf to verify my work email address. I was a little confused so I called back. At that point he told me that he was in the fraud department and that they are going to press charges for bad checks and that they were going to let my employer know what I have been doing. After asking a million times I found out that he was calling regarding two payday loans. One from M1Y direct and one from Arrowhead. I received $300.00 from each. He said that both were under United Federal Bank and that I had to pay $1527.80 that same day or my employer would be notified and charges would be brought against me. I told him that I didn't have the money. He insisted, however, I told him that I can't magically pull money out of my a$$. He backed down and said that he would call me in 02/15. That is when I begin to do a little research and found this gem of a site. I live in the state of NC. Please offer all the help possible. I would love to get this resolved.

Please file a complaint with your Attorney Generals office. Also call both of the loan companies and verify who your account was given to for collections. This company is operating under so many different names it's crazy. Tell him you are not sending them a dime until you get things verified.
Payday loans are illegal in North Carolina. How long did you have these two loans and how much did your pay towards them total?

I received a call (at work!) from some guy named Mark Watson on my office voicemail, saying he was from Watson and Associates, but the phone number he listed (1-800-871-7730) is the same phone number the poster that started this thread listed for Jackson Phillips and Assoc. (or something like that). I haven't called them back yet because I'm trying to so some research first; what are the chances this is a legitimate legal firm that I should really be worried about?

I don't know, maybe they are connected. I looked up the phone number on the BBB and didn't get anything, but I looked up Watson and Assoc. on the BBB and they had one listing for "Legal and Investigative Services" or something like that in Tulsa, OK. But the 800 number I posted is the same as the number the person that started this thread posted for Jackson Phillips. I thought Ellis Crosby and company got banned from practicing collections?

I just dealt with them. Anna Martinez is who I spoke with. When she contacted me she was really stern and rude. After I did my homework, mostly on this site, I called our AG office. THey told me to file a complaint.I called Jackson Phillips what I was doing, that they were not legal to operate in my state and they went from saying I owed them almost $800 to taking $100 (difference between what I borrowed and what I had paid.) Don't pay another dime. Call your AG office. And then tell them what you've done. It will be a different story.

This agency called me and told me that they were going to file federal charges on me for a outstanding payday loan that happened over a year ago. I don't even remember this loan or the orginal company it came from. The person that I talked to told me that I needed to pay the whole amount that was due. How do I find more information on this company? I feel now that I am being harrassed because this same person called me 3 times in one day over payment.

Google this company on this site, (box in upper right hand corner), you will find a wealth of info. posted on them and their illegal tactics. You should DEFINATELY file complaints with your state's Attorney General's office as well as the AG's office in Florida (where they are located). They are the worst and they will use illegal threats. (Nobody is going to file any type of charges against you and you are not going to be arrested). Do not send this company a dime until you file your complaints.

I was just contacted by Jackson, Phillips, and Assoc. They told me if I did not pay the money back today that they would have to file the charges, or how ever she worded it. After I got off the phone with her I googled the name and found this site. She also told me that they would make a stick thru my employee since I used there IP address to require the loan....

Well all of you are right and I have a story from you. I was also stupid and used payday loans but it was because my father passed away.. I have contacted all the payday loans I have and they gave me a month to pay them off but Bass and Associates stuck there big nose into this. They have called me twice stating that I have intentionally committted fraud and I am going to jail and they threaten to publically embarass me and file charges if I didnt send them $2500.00 for 3 $300.00 payday loans. I told them I will be intouch with the 3 paydayloan places and he told me good luck finding them because he said they change their phone numbers all the time and change the company names which I think is fraud. I did get a hold of one of the payday loan places and they had no idea who Bass and Associates are and they gave me a month to pay back the 300 I owe them. So how do I get Bass and Associates to quit calling me and do I ahve to worry about there threats?

 That's good. These dirtbags need to be taken down. If they impersonated a police or court officer, please write additional letter to your local FBI office with as much detail as you can recollect. I would love to see collectors getting prison time for that. It is not even close to funny to scare people into thinking you are the law!

You are not naive! What person is gonna be calm when they think the law is on the phone!Only ones I know are attorneys, serial killers, and other law enforcement.

Most people have a little tension built in them even when they have done nothing wrong. I have a very low opinion on law enforcement that I have reached reading cases where they either let the wrong person go due to incompetentance or got the wrong person and invented evidence to clear a case. I have taken the view of the lawyers and refuse to deal with them without a attorney.

Just got a call from someone from "The Offices of Connie Church" (I assume so that it sounds more like a lawyers office) and they gave the 800-871-7730 as their call back number. She left me a message yesterday saying that I, or my retained legal counsel, needed to call her back. I have about 3 outstanding PDL's from back in November, when I went on Disability and needed them to help pay bills. So I've already had to deal with another one of their many named companies telling me that they were pressing charges and would have me arrested for fraud, and get me on Federal charges etc. It was enough to scare me into paying the 1st company $350(even though I only borrowed 200 or 300- and they are saying I still owe them $300 in 'fees'.) She even went as far as to tell me that it had happened to her, and she now had a permanent record, bc of something so small. That even though she didn't have a previous record, the judges are really cracking down and didn't care. I was so frightened, I got a friend to loan me 1/2 the amount she said I owed.
I googled the number this recent lady gave me after a friend informed me that she's gotten the same calls of a man telling her that they would embarrass her by sending the cops up to her job, etc etc.
I know I owe the original amounts borrowed, but it seems like these companies are loan sharking. The original people I contacted said the companies wouldn't even work out a payment arrangement with me, and wouldn't give me the contact info for them. It was a schpeel about how I had to pay $700, on a $300 PDL.
One of these other ones called me and wouldnt give me the name of the company he was calling from until I gave him my name. So I assume they use different company names depending on whichever way the wind blows. He barely spoke English, so I automatically assumed that it was a scare tactic. I spoke to him and he gave me the same script that the original lady, I paid, did about having me arrested etc etc. His accent was so thick that I had to have him repeat almost everything over and over. He started to get rude, and handed me off to someone else. At that point I could hear other phones ringing, and it sounded like a call center. So the other guy starts in about wanting to give me a case number, that he was trying to save me from an embarrassing situation and crap- I said, and "let me guess I have to pay the full balance by EOB today, or you press charges, right?" He told me they would. So I told him to keep dreaming bc I didn't have the money. He then said that I had a real attitude and good luck to me, bc I WOULD pay, then hung up.
BTW, I called the offices of Connie Church back and the lady that picked up, answered with "Jackson Phillips and Associates"
I'm in NC too, so from what I've been hearing recently- I think it was even illegal for the original payday loan people to give me the loan in the 1st place.
