After pulling my report with Equifax, I found, atleast, 15 mistakes. I have inaccuracies on here that arent on the other Bureau reports? Does anyone find such a large variation in their report from Equifax? For Example, I have a student loan opened in 2000, paid off now, but Equifax shows no new updates since 2001.

Did you get your credit report from the annual credit report site? If you get your reports online, you should be able to "dispute all" directly from each agencies link. Everyone gets a free copy of all three bureaus credit reports once a year. Do NOT use freecreditreport.com. It's not free. The free one is www.annualcreditreport.com. That gives you a link to all three bureaus. I found weird address on mine that I've never heard of. And old cards that were paid off and closed, but showed as paid with available balances. Just by disputing all things on my report, my score went up about 30 points. Everyone should try it. 8)

Credit bureaus report possible errors on the consumers' files because of handling too much info in their database. Though it's not normal, but it often happens.

Highlight the item you figured out is incorrect and dispute it with the bureau. They will check with the data furnishers and update your records. You will get the updated copy at your mailing address within 30 days.

For example, first charge off lowers the credit scores at the most. Any incorrect negative info on the file will put R 9 rating. This also hurts the scores very much. Since you have copies from the other bureaus, Equifax won't take long to fix your report. Every credit company / debt collector doesn't report information to all the bureaus. It is up to them to whom they want to report. That is why, there is such variation on the info provided to the bureaus.

Thanks Gunsand Roses for the very useful information. Thats something I sure didnt know. I thought everybody reported to all three of them. Makes sense why the scores are so different. KIYSIDE38
