Welcome to the forums Sissy. The answer to your question is NO!!!! I thought this threat was wore out with them a long time ago. Your not going to jail either. Here is a link that you need to look at your state laws on payday lending. http://www.paydayloaninfo.org Any more questions feel free to ask. KYSIDE38

sissy--

This is a scare tactic that collectors will use on you. NO, you will not be charged with fraud or go to jail. I believe this so-called US Federal Bank is really Bass & Associates and they are known to use this threat. Don't let them scare you into paying them a dime. They are violating the fdcpa. If they contact you again, ask them to send you something in writing and also file a complaint with the Florida AG's office and the BBB. Bass & Associates are under investigation.

Sissy:

I am so sorry that you were approached in such a manner as to be placed in the position that you would go to jail for not paying a payday loan. It is amazing what tactics that they would go through to get you caught up in the web of deceit and mistrust.

You cannot go to jail for defaulting on a debt. If that was the case, then I and many of my fellow debtors here would all be in cells next to each other. It would be so many of us, we would fill up the jails!

I would suggest you learn the laws in your state regarding debt collection. I would also recommend that you contact your Attorney General's office and file a complaint with this company. For all you know, they might have complaints against them already.
