my friend had to 2 collection agencies take like $4,700 out of her account on the same day. she's not working because she just got into a car accident. she was paying them every month. is there anything she can do???

Tell your friend to call the original creditor and explain the situation. I believe the collection agency is hired by the creditor for recovering the outstanding balance. If she can post one payment directly to the creditor, the account will get current and they will take payments in the future. Possibly, this will work and she won't have to deal with the CA.
