Easy come, easy go. Or so they say. After having lived most of his life as a typical lower class citizen, my father hit the lottery, winning quite a large sum of money. After having ran out of money, he now has debt on two automobiles and a tractor, totalling around 60,000.

Wings - I'm sorry to hear about your father's situation. Unfortunately, winning the lottery, or any large sum of money, rarely buys us the happiness we think it will. It may solve lots of problems to begin with, but in the long run, many people find they can't handle having what looks like unlimited cash at hand.

Has your father considered debt consolidation? Since you registered with this site, a debt counselor will be contacting you for a free phone consultation. Maybe you will be able to discuss your father's situation with them, or ask them to call your father to see if they can help him out.

Can ask how long has it been since he won and how much was it?

I think that sometimes when we get the money, our intentions are good but then again, some of us who have never been blessed with money do not know what to do with it. I think that we all just snap sometimes. It happens like when you get a hefty lawsuit and you go wild thinking that the money is always going to be there. And if you are a good person like me, you will have relatives coming and asking for a loan (what they really mean is give me).

It happens. What is he is doing to remedy the situation?
