Hello, My name is Jaime. My husband and I are looking to clean up our credit reports all all items except our car and house payments. We currently have a total of roughly 20k outside of those two items. What can we do to get one monthly payment? Is it worth it to do a debt consolidation or is it worth to just work the amounts down our self?

Please give me a call at 253-261-****.

Phone number removed for your safety - Mike

Thank you,

Jaime Vaardahl

Since you have registered with the site someone should be calling you soon to discuss your options. Without more info on your debts it's hard to recommend what would be best. What kind of debts are the 20K? Credit card, personal loans, store cards, etc? Are they current? Can you make the monthly payments?

debt consolidation will combine your payments under one plan. The benefits in this program are that you will pay the debts at a lower interest rate. If you are already behind, the consultant will get most of the fees waived off. Speak with a debt counselor and figure out the suitable option.

The consolidation company will do all the negotiations with your creditors. You just have to pay them and they will post it to your creditors. If you can do arrange it on your own, you may save up on their fees of the services. Sometimes, the creditors are not willing to accept the proposals and lower down the interests. In such cases, the fee charged by the consolidation company is worth paying. They will consider your financial situation before finalizing the plan.
