We are needing some help getting out from under payday loans. Had to borrow due to me having surgery right after getting a house and car problems, Christmas, school things for the kids, etc. Now we are paying out almost $400 or better every 2 weeks and dont' seem to be getting anywhere. We do lilve in NC. I do recall that 2 of the companies are DebtDoctor and MagnumZ LLC. We are still struggling now to keep up with our regular bills and our bank account is always overdrawn and we cannot seem to get ahead. We could use any help that you can offer. Thank you

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Have you tried calling any of your payday loan companies, and trying to work something out with them. How much was each of the loans? Somewhere, there is an end point. Could you please provide more information about how many loans, and for what amounts.

Payday loans are prohibited in the state of NC. Most internet lendors will tell you that the loan was taken in their state, but the loan ended in your state, when they deposited into your local account.

Regards
Mike

First thing you need to do is close the bank account that the pdl's are coming out of. This will allow you to regain control of your finances and stop the nsf fees. Open a new bank account.

Once you close the account the calls will start. Do a search on this board for the company names and you will get a good idea of what to expect. Some of the companies are particulary nasty and will tell you that you will be arrested in 10 minutes, and ask you to look out the window because they should be there any minute. I know one person had a pdl threaten to take her kids away! But they are all just threats, they cannot do anything of the sort.

You need to figure out what you've paid and what you borrowed. You may even be entitled to refunds. There is a good form letter on Polly's blog that could help you. I'd suggest putting things in your own words, as it looks like you took a letter off the internet and filled in the blanks if you don't.

As Mikey said, pdl's are prohibited in NC. That gives you a good leg to stand on. There are some members here from your state and they can probably give you some good advice on how to proceed.

No I have not tried to contact these people because I cannot seem to find any information on them as to where to contact them at. There is MagnumZ LLC ($250), Whistler Holding ($300), 3 Midland Market ($200), Route66 ($200), United Cash ($200), and this one whom I am not 100% sure, 6-Electronic Pay (cking statment said $200 was deposited) and it shows up twice on payday with 2 different amounts coming out. They say hind sight is 20/20 and it sure has been. Unfortunatly I had most things saved on my computer and it had crashed, so if I kept any documentation, it is gone.

As far as closing our account out, I am afraid that since out account has been going into overdrawn for a long time now, it might be hard to get another account. We have a bank that opened up called WoodForest (in Wal-Mart) that offers second chance accounts, but an not sure of them either. And yes, these were all internet loans.

Check out my thread called Bank Lists for chexsystems

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/settlement/chexsystem-banks.html

I have lists for every state of banks that don't use chexsystems (The database they put you on for too many NSF's, bank fraud, etc). If there isn't a bank that works for you let me know and I can research it further. Be aware that even though your bank account may be in the plus now, your bank could decide you have too many nsf's and elect to close your account without telling you first. It's a huge pain. Don't go for a second chance banking, you can get a regular account.

As for the PDL's, Route 66 is one of the worst. Eventually they will leave you alone, but be prepared for lots of harrassment. Do a search for each of the companies names here and you can find out what to expect from each. How much have you paid on each loan?
