I received a call today regarding a payday loan I acquired through FSM Group. I was caught off guard because the company itself never contacted me in writing or via e-mail. Then I get this call from I believe a collection agency telling me that I have two charges against me and the amount allegedly owed. I questioned the amount and the person hung up the phone. I called back a number of times because I wanted the name of the collection agency and an address (as I have never received any correspondence from them). Again, they hung up the phone. When I say they, one Jessica Hawthorne and a supervisor by the name of Mr. Wakefield. He told me after I called there three times, to not call there again and this is going to our general counsel. From the greeting, it sounds like the company name is Alice Crosby & Associates, the telephone number is 1-800-491-8615. I would like to know if what occurred is legal? Who can I complain to about what happened? It is not that I deny getting the loan, I dispute the amount and the creditor itself could have contacted me.

Oh I will be sure to tell the new place this story if they start acting up! How we got the SHUT DOWN ECT.
Do you think TED CROSBY will open up under another name and do the same thing?
If you read their statement, it clearly states that Ted Crosby told his employee's to act like that and threaten people. So does that mean he is taking FULL responsiblity for this action?

"nothing. I hung up. If I hear of more harassment going on today I'll call later."

LMAO! "Is your refrigerator running????"

I haven't heard from them after I sent them a fax telling them to essentially leave me the heck alone. Still waiting for Mr. Investigator to come barrelling in my office to take me away! :-D

Three different people from this company called trying to collect on a $300 loan.....then they tried to say I owed for two loans at that amount and $800 in late fees and charges trying to make a total of $1400...then when I tried to straighten it out they told me there was going to be a warrant out for my arrest, going by my driver license number, for 3 counts of white collar crime....then when I said that payday loans were illegal in new jersey and there is a 16% cap on the loan for collection purposes..the phone cut out, I trried calling back and left voice mails never received a call back....I wonder why...LOL And to think I was willing to pay the exact money owed which was $300..now they ain't getiing s**t from me.

I cannot find any info on Elin Collect Edge at all. I looked on budhibbs.com and also looked on Yahoo. Maybe it is Ellis Crosby under a diffrent name or impersonating. Did they call themselves Invesgators?

One way to check on the name is to get the 800# and address of where you can send a certified check.

I also cannot find anything on Elin Collect.

I seriously doubt that this is Ellis Crosby. They would of had to hired new people. Because once when you train someone to threaten their freedom, I doubt it's hard to break them of that.

I wonder if the people working for Ellis Crosby feel good about what they do. Does their work truely make them happy?

I also wanted to add, or basically question...is how can Ellis Crosby and associates continue their unethical particing. I know they were warned, and you woulda thought they would tone it down a bit till everything clears up...but they still are harassing people. And everytime you try to call for Ted (Ellis) Crosby you get Tammy @ ext. 201

Just seems weird that's all. And can he get arrested for the way he does business.

Chances are they'll just sit in limbo. Ellis Crosby & Associates may sell the contract they have with the payday people to a new company. Saying...we'll give you all these accounts for a set price. It may be awhile, but just because no one is calling you, and there is no company that is harassing you about it, doesn't mean it'll go away.

If something like this did occur, I would probably just call the original creditor back.

i read this site on a reg basis. why dont you guys just pay your bills. some collection agencys are rough but most of u are guilty of getting the money and never paying it back & then when they contact you you look for a scapegoat by seeking legalities. whatever happens to the agencies you still have the debt out there. please dont teach your kids to run from the responsibilities that u create yourselves.this site is just a haven for irresponsible deadbeats. and the advice seems to come from a roxette who is trying to make money on credit counseling.....wow!!

Mr amazement, this site is for people who need advice and help on debt. This is not a site for deadbeats, a lot of us here run into situations which set us back.

We are here because we want to get back on the right track and out of debt. In Roxette's defense, she is here to help us. She gives us very sound advice along with everyone else who has been here for a while.

If you are here on a reg basis, you will see that most of us are trying to pay our debts that are out there. We just dont want it to get in the wrong hands.

Mr. Amazement,

I wish to inform you that there are many more collection agencies that are collecting debt from the consumers and they are practicing within their lines. Thus, the consumers don't object to pay them. I believe if you are a regular visitor in this site, you must know about it.

But some of them just don't want to stay calm and get involved in unfair practices. As a result, they catch attention very easily. That's why the forum like this is a place to aware the common people.

By the way, I am doing a noble work and getting the blessings of many people for my good deeds. Am not interested in making money on credit counseling right now.

Regards
Roxette

at the same time roxette, advise these people to be financially responsible. they default on these loans & when they are contacted with the very same numbers that they themselves provide they have the nerve to say they are being harrassed.i am a business owner and i know the feeling of being stuck with a worthless check & when i call the debtor they tell me to stop harrassing them. some even exaggerate my personel collection attempts....anything to remove the attention off of what they have done.

Yes, I can understand the pain behind the fact when you as a businessman are not able to recover the money from the people. And, I can assume that you are not the person who will involve in deceitful acts in harassing the people which you can understand so well.

I am sure that all the people who will be reading our post will understand that only our conscious knows if we are really guilty or not. If we owe to somebody, we have to pay it. And at the same time, if we intend to harass anyone, our conscious knows it very well.

So, before pointing out to anyone, first check ourselves if we are doing the fair thing. Then only, we should point out others.

Mr. Amazement, trust me, I have been with our members for quite a long time and I know them very well. They are not trying to escape from their debt. They do want to pay it, but provided if it goes to their debt account with the right amount. Just like its painful to you on a bounced check, it's painful to them also when their debt amount is manipulated.

Regards
Roxette

Hi Candy

After the company has proven the debt to you, it is better to pay if off as early as possible and prevent your credit from further damage. Make sure that you do your correspondence in writing as well for sufficient proof.

You can also contact them at the following address.

Here is the address to contact FSM Processing

11 E. Gregory Blvd #Ste 200
Kansas City, MO 64114
Telephone: (816) 822-8677

I am also dealing with FSM Group. I got a 150.00 loan from them earlier this year, and they have been taking out $90.00, $45.00, $35.00 of my account at various time for the last 5 or so months after the loan has been payed back. it seem like the amounts change everytime. I have no way of contacting anyone to stop the payments, so i canceled my checking account and go a new one. Problem is they are calling me now and threatening me. they used my job and arrest as their tactics. I have not heard of Ellis, Crosby and Associates. Now apparently i have 48 hours to get my lawyer (which i dont have)to call them. What the heck am i suppose to do? thanks in advance!

Licia, ask FSM to give you the statement of your past payments and the remaining balance(if there is any). Send a letter requesting this info and keep a follow up over the phone. The number to reach FSM is 1-866-516-9300 and talk to Kathy Reynolds at extension 224. They must prove that you owe a balance before paying anything further.
