I have been receiving letters from Midland regarding a debt that I am close to certain is almost 7 years old. However, it is shown on my credit report as being reported delinquent as of 2006. How can I resolve this issue??
Thanks for your help.

Get the debt validated by midland credit management. They need to show you all details about the debt before making any collection attempts. It also looks like they are re-ageing the item for the negative information to stay longer. You need to look for proof when the account last became delinquent and get your report updated otherwise it will hurt your scores in the long run.

Dispute the item with the CRA and request verification. They will check the records with the data furnishers and rectify the item if your dispute is found correct. Do all communication in writing so that you have valid proof. Send the letters through certified mail to keep a track of the dates when the correspondence was done.
