Amex, NCO, settling

Holy cow, this community is amazing! I've spent a week on and off reading through the forums and other info. so thank you! it has been enormously helpful.
i have a question!
i have an account with Amex that has been referred to NCO for collection. I have been speaking with the representative who insists I make check by phone payments with her, then she will "email someone" (her words) and try to get them to give me a break on my interest rate. I told her I don't do phone payments, and I wouldn't give her my check info. She's actually been very polite and professional.
I want to propose a settlement to this account, but I am not sure if it is possible since it's been referred to NCO? How would that work, would I send a letter to both AMex and NCO, or just NCO? I called Amex and asked them a question about the account-- Amex still owns it but have involved NCO to collect.

You did really good by not giving them your checking account inf
You did really good by not giving them your checking account information. If I were you, I would try to go through AMEX for the arrangements. It wouldn't hurt to try...the worst they would probably say is No, that you have to go throught NCO.
