They never responded to my debt validation letter and posted the negative listing to my credit report.
I think I should file a lawsuit against them.


By law, debt collectors must not touch your credit report if they don't have your accounts. In other words, if their reporting is authorized, there should be no problems in validating the account when requested. First dispute the reporting with the bureau for corrections. Send a letter to Asset Acceptance also because they need to be aware of their inaccurate reporting in your file. You should get an updated copy within 30 - 45 days. If the item still stays on your credit without showing proof, speak with an attorney who deals in lawsuits of fdcpa violations.
