Are the companies that charge a fee to reduce debt worth the fees they charge? I'm hearing 15 percent of total debt represented. Thanks

Welcome to the Fourms :D Here is a link that describes the benefits of debt consolidation at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/benefits.html Since you are registered, someone will contact you and discuss your options, cost etc. If you have a small debt and the creditors are willing to work with you, I would think it would not be worth the cost. But consolidation can help if you have debt and are unable to handle on your own.Kep us posted on your progress..Karen

Shop with different companies and compare their quotes. Every company will offer an attractive deal. You need to understand your situation and then decide for the suitable company. Most companies will charge a fee. It should not be equal to the total amount negotiated with the creditors. I have seen that because of the high interest rates and fees, it's worth paying the fee in the plan. It's just a portion of the total negotiated amount. Talk with different companies before finalizing with anyone.
