One of my HSBC cards went to them for collections. When I finally called them, I was treated like a human being and the man I dealt with-AJ Frank, was wonderful!! I had set up this account to be paid off before I ever found this board, but I didn't get any paperwork on it. It's to be paid off this month. Anyhow, I called today and requested a document verifying that x amount would pay this in full. Again, he was very nice and emailed it to me within 10 minutes of our conversation. If Korn calls you, answer it. They're not hard to deal with. Here's the email he sent me, altered for privacy of course.

Sounds nice. I only have one small concern - what have you received via postal mail? When you get this paid off, do NOT accept a PIF statement via email. Get one on company letterhead, for your records. You never know what you might need it for.

JediJeff is right about this! I was stupid and payed before I got anything in writing, only a promise of a PIF letter. Surprise-Surprise-no PIF letter!!..Karen
