DOn't worry about it. It's done with. THose people have probably been sitting on their butts all day calling people that yell at them and hang up on them. So, when they get someone that calls THEM and is willing to make good on what they owe....they dump all over you. I know....it's like they emotionally raped you. It makes you feel confused and dirty. But, it's done with. Just be absolutely sure that they don't start taking money out of your bank account until you see that the garnishment has stopped. And, it is better to have made payment arrangements than to get a court ordered garnishment. Were you never served court papers for that garnishment? That's the part that seems odd to me. Anyway...keep an eye on your account. If it looks like they are breaking their end of the bargin, you can always close your bank account and open one somewhere else. I hope it goes well for you. You sound like a responsible person. Don't sweat the small stuff!

Allied are horrible! Basically, your company should not have honored the wage garnishment without it being court ordered, which it obviously doesn't seem to have been from what you described. Some payday lenders and collection agencies send through illegal wage garnishment packets to employers, figuring that payroll will just process it and not question anything, which is what yours did. I would not have given them your bank information either. Allied is just trying to intimidate you. Send them a debt validation letter requesting that they prove the debt is yours and that the creditor has turned the account over to them to collect, etc.
You could also try contacting the original creditor to see if you can work out payment arrangements with them, and send money orders, don't give your bank or credit/debit card details out. Some collection agencies have been known to take more than the agreed amount out of people's accts., and then you're in a mess.
I'm sure you were bewildered by the way you were treated when you called, I know I would have been. You were just asking for a balance, which most companies are happy to give, and you get blasted. It's a shame that they unloaded on you, don't take it personally. I'm sure they have done the same to numerous others. I hope this works out for you, as you are trying to do the right thing.
