I just received a phone call from an investigator form Ellis Crosby and Associates that said I had two payday loans outstanding with them and that I had charges being filed against me at 12:00 today. I told them I knew what she was saying but that I also knew that they were under suspension. She informed me that they were not under suspension because if they were then she wouldn't be able to contact me. She said I had to call back by 12 today with an arrangement or they were filing charges against me. She said the balance on one with the out of court restitution was $800 and the other was $560. These two loans total only equaled $500. So what do I do? I paid them $560 3 days ago for a loan I had. The original amount of that loan was $260. Do I call them back or what do I do at this point. They said I could have my attorney contact them but they would give my attorney the same information. Please someone let me know the best way to handle this? Are they really under suspension??? Thank you

I just received a call on my job from a James Freeman who stated he worked for Ellis Crosby & Associates. He left a message. I call back to get information on the company because I don't remember dealing with this company or even receiving something in the mail. I call back and spoke with Leslie and she started attempting to collect a debt for GTO and I stated who is this company and I need something in writing. She told me that she was not going to send me something in writing and then she started quoted my screen name for an online payment. She stated the debt was for $650.00. I told her I don't remember taken a loan out nothing near that amount. She told me I had until 4:00 today to pay or further procedures will start. I told her and I was being very honest. You will not received 650.00 from me today and again I need something in writing. She completely refused to provide me with something. I then asked her if she had ever sent me something in writing and she stated 6/14. I told her why are you calling now. She completely lied and would not give me information regarding the company in which she was trying to collect on. Again, another example of this company attempting to collect but not providing the correct information.

Hi Debra,

Welcome to the forums. Please keep yourself updated in this forum because Florida state attorney general has terminated Ellis Crosby from doing business.

Moreover, the said company has more than 120 complaints filed against them and you can also file your complaints at the FTC, BBB and request for urgent attention.

Regards
Roxette

They are being sued by the Attorney General's office of Florida. Contact their office, you can find the numbers on myfloridalegal.com, and ask for Summer Saladino she is the person working on the case.
She will tell you how to handle this
Have a wonderful day!

I hadn't heard from Ellis in WEEKS...and this morning I get a call on my cell phone from Renee Ward telling me affidavits are being "down loaded" to where I live...I told her that I wasn't playing her game, and hung up...She hasn't called back...but I'm confused...because the accounts I had with them were sold to Elin Collectage, and even Elin told me Ellis was being sued....so why are these people still calling me?

I wished I knew that too. Apparently alot of the EC accounts were sold to Elin and EC is still attempting to collect on them. That to me sounds like fraud. EC is trying to get people to pay them money for a debt that is not legally theirs to collect. Are you positive your debt was sold to Elin? I mean, has Elin provided you with information to validate that? If they have, then EC is definetely committing fraud and need to be reported to the Florida Attorney General.
