I am concerned that they ask you to put up $3000 up front before they give me any money

Keamy:
Please forward your information to the FBI, BBB, phone busters, FTC, your bank should still have the routing information that was on the check that was deposited. This would help the agencies put together a paper trail to help us all.

keamy, sounds like they are sending checks out for you to cash so you can send them the money back, then the check will probably be returned to your bank. and they got their money then you are screwed. well i have one more day left before im supposed to get my refund back but dont see that happening. lets just hope that they get caught and no one else gets scammed. they have really screwed up my finanical situatuion dont know what im going to do to get it back on track.

Please please please no one else cash or deposit these checks!!! Your bank can and will hold you responsible when they come back as forgeries. It can take a bank up to 2 months to find out a check was forged. You could actually be arrested for this and it is a horrible mess to clean up.

Even though you did nothing wrong your bank will hold you responsible for coming up with the money for the bogus check. They close your account because you tried to put through a forged check and they think everyday people should know what is a forgery and what isn't. It's ridiculous, but does happen. You will also be reported to chexsystems for fraud, and that will make it difficult to open another bank account for 5 years.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I would be shocked if anything about this company wa real.

Any of you waiting on refunds, if you do get one, be very careful . . . . Go into your bank and tell them the whole story. Tell them you are due a refund but feel this check is a fake. Ask them what you should do. Get it in writing from them if they just tell you to go ahead and deposit it and wait for it to clear. Seriously, make them write that down and sign it.

If you just go to a check cashing place you could be facing criminal charges for cashing a forged check. Just be super careful . . . . . I don't want anyone to go to jail for this scam but the people that are behind it!!!

hey i just had a thought, if you guys look at the loan papers they sent you to sign look at the bottom on the paget that list the terms of the loan. it is signed by william Easton President of stockwell Resources. just curious if anyone has called them and asked to speak with William Easton too see what they might say. just a thought someone should try it i would but i call several times a day and they recognize my voice and just hang up.

sounded all suprised and said when I get the check back from the bank to call him and he will tell me what to do next. i just got the check back in the mail today from my bank, but I havent called him yet.
I will keep you updated on what happens.

Do not send stockwell resources anything. They are a scam!!!!!!!! They sent me a check for $4,200 and wanted me to hurry and cash it, then send them back a $2,200 canada tax fee. I called the bank it was drawn on ( comerica bank ). The check is counterfeit. Email me if you have any questions

I would also relay my information to any authority. also if you need to post your email address on here do it withouth the .com on it. also i called comerica bank they said they wouldnt tell any information to a third party, even if you called with a check and account number they would not verify funds. sounds funny to me, any bank should verify funds if you have a check written off of it. if anyone receives a check i would take it to your local bank and explain to them the situation and see what they can do to make sure it is a good check. also im supposed to get my check today as well so im sure it will be a comerica as well. i still cant belive they are answering the phones. i have one question when you got the refund check how did it come to you, was it in the regular mail or through some courrier service?

We went to our bank today and we are gonna have to pay them back the $4,200! We filed a report with the local police and they pretty much told us they didnt think anything would happen to Stockwell Resoures. The cop called the fake Comerica number right in front of us and they pretty much hung up on him so the whole thing is a complete scam please dont send these people any money! The cop also called the 800 number to Stockwell and said that i was filing a report on the counterfeit check and they gave him the run around and then hung up. They said stuff like this happens everyday.

I think scams like these have been on dateline before . . . . They are called advance fee loans.

Keamy - You are really lucky your bank is letting you make payments. It sucks, but could be a lot worse. That's why I'm saying no one should deposit these checks. If they do, leave the money in there for at least 2 months. Even though the bank may say the check cleared 5 to 7 days after you deposit it, they can still come back later and say they were wrong, and you have to pay for it!

hey i just called the 800 number at stockwell they answered the phone. i asked when my refund was coming they said by next friday, i've been told that for the past 3 weeks, also i asked if the check was going to be written on comerica bank and she asked why i said because all the checks you are sending out are fake. she said it would be a cashiers check , but i said is it written on comerica and she kept asking why do i want to know that and i explained that it would be a fake check. i need for everyone to call them today as many times as you can and if you dont mind can everyone put their real name on here and everytime we call we can say that all these other people have been told them same. my name is chris from alabama.

I wish I saw this website before those jerks scammed me. I'm a single mother who was in a desparate situation. I wasn't thinking clearly and rushed into this "dream loan" that turned into a nightmare!!! I was also assured that once I paid the $1000.00 collateral fee I would receive the funds, when that didn't happen I was advised my account was "red flagged" and the "lenders" requested a $750.00 security deposit. I bought that line of "BS" because I know I have some credit issues. Foolishly I sent the additional money. When the funds still where not deposited I called several times and after they hung up on me for days I finally spoke with someone named "Sharon-Gilda-Pam" who said there was fradulent information on my application, I had to laugh at that, the nerve of them accusing me of fraud!!!! They were suppose to mail my money back to me of course, that hasn't happened. They really put me in more of a financial bind than I was in to begin with. I learned a valuable lesson, and I hope eventually the word will be put out about these companies so no one else will fall prey to this sick scam!!! I am in the process of filing complaints with as many agencies as I can. If anyone gets word on a potential lawsuit and there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. These people need to left in a jail cell to rot!!!!

Yes it could be a lot worse and i do feel better now just knowing i will be able to put this all behind me, lesson learned. The bank manager said it could be up to a year befor that check came back as fake i suggest not trying to put a hold on it or anything its not worth the paper its printed on!

I just finished closing all my Bank accounts & opening new ones as the police told me to do so, I hope you all that got scammed, have done the same & informed Credit companies of possible future frauds, Especially if they got your SIN number etc. as they got a lot of info from me, they know where I live, how much I had in the Bank etc.!

I'm from Ontario Canada, After I gave the 1800 number to Phone Busters, they said it didn't have to be listed with any address, So that means anybody can keep doing this to others & get away with it, I think it's time that this is changed so only real businesses can get these numbers & not those who are out to scam & rob desperate people out of their hard earned cash!

Scamed2 I'll give it to them & See what they have to say, I once had a cell phone stolen & the person who stole it made 2 calls to a Toronto number total up to 12hrs, the police just told me the person who received the call didn't steal the phone, & they could just lie about it! so nothing happened!

any word on stockwell today, its funny they also said my application came back because of fraudulent information. They also said my creditors told them i wouldnt pay the loan back, so i asked them which creditors and they said that was confidental information. i also checked my credit report they didnt even run a credit check on me, im sure they didnt run one on anyone we just belived since we had bad credit they were telling us the truth. they never had any intention of giving anyone a loan, they just filled us with that crap. has anyone contacted an attorney on this matter, i wonder if we could all get together and get one attorney to take our case and maybe sue these people as individuals.
