Genesee Valley Associates at this number 1 800 392 3100 is planning to sue us for the amount we owe of seven thousand seven hundred dollars ...This is for an unpaid bill that we had with union bank credit card. IT started in collections in may of 06 and we did not respond to their repeated calls and now in febuary 07 we are being sued..An attorney named Douglas Radcliff is suing us he wants us to pay them the 7700 dollars we owe by the 19th of febuary...This is not possible. We are willing to make monthly payments i told him but he does not want to hear it..Do you think this is legit? Do you think Genesee Valley Associates really are going to take us to court? They said that someone is going to show up at our house in a few days...We do want to pay this i lost my job in may and i was the one paying it..Its my fathers account though he is disabled from a stroke and he has a pension he gets every month for 1400. THey are really scaring me...What can they actually do? Can they touch his bank account? We are willing to make payments in increments montly but they dont want to hear it...He sounds very threatening...I feel so bad for my father since i got him into this i kept putting it off till now...The collection agency, Genesee Valley Associates, was atlantic express who gave it over to this attorney...My friend says its a scame that they are all the same thing...i need feed back please..If we show up at court what can they actually do to us? Any info is appreciated thanks

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and was surrounded by family and friends. I also hope that for just one day we were able to forget about the debts we owe and relax. I know that at least one bill collecting company was working on Thanksgiving as they called bright and early. I guess they gotta meet that quota. Bill Collecting is like telemarketing. You call a whole bunch of people that don't want to talk to you... haha

I call'em like I see'em. Always have, always will.

As for trolls and other assorted pinheads, well... They have a saying down home. 'You don't start no sh*t, there won't be no sh*t.' Most folks on this forum came here to help them selves and others. It just ticks me off to see somebody intentionally trying to ruin that.

Just an FYI.... I have no problem with Collectorman or anybody else just because thay happen to work on the 'Dark Side'. Everybody's got to do something. Follow the law and treat folks halfway decently, and we'll get along just fine. Besides, Cajunbulldog ain't the only one here with an interest in hearing both sides of an issue.

What pisses me off are the impostors, CA shills, and such. What is the benefit of bashing someone here for being down on his luck? None that I can see.

new to sight and maybe dumb question..how is someone banned hiding from something? their comments shouldn't be entered if they are banned from site.. how can they even still be here? not right at all if sight has banned them from posting!

also i agree of why the question of how did you know from your statements that collectorman posts were real from a real debt collector?..and how did you know this for a fact ? brings up a very valid question? I am not hiding and dont know what is being referred to but if someone is banned common sense says they arent here now yes or no?

Most forum software gives the mods/admin the option to ban a user in either of two ways. A User ID can be banned, in which case, that user is effectively gone. He can no longer log into that user account from any computer, anywhere. In most cases, that doesn't stop him from creating a new user account and logging right back in, though.

Or an IP address can be banned, either individually or as a range. That effectively bans the computer the person was posting from, or a range of computers on the same network segment. But it leaves the User ID untouched.

In this case, it sounds as though the user id was banned, but not the IP address. Either way, there are ways to get around most bans from forums. They aren't difficult, but some of them do require a bit of technical know-how.

(edit:)
Sorry, Cajunbulldog. Looks like you're just faster on the ol' keyboard than I am this morning. Hopefully between the two of us, we've answered the question. :)

I can't agree with that. It's a public forum, and the more you know about what makes it tick, the better off we'll all be in the end. I like to think I've been able to help some people in the time I've been here. I wouldn't have been able to help if I hadn't been reading, pondering, and asking the occasional stupid question. Even about things that don't apply to me or my situation. Knowledge is power.

O.k. Hello again everyone. I know that this has nothing to do with the topic title, but we have strayed off the beaten path in the first place. Anyway, my question is for the experts here because I have gotten loads of good advice from you. My husband has recently heard of this Kevin Trudeau guy and he feels that he needs to buy his new book in order to get out of debt. Well, I just want to know if anyone here has had experience with this book or has heard of this person or has any opinion. He says pay yourself first, 10% of your paycheck and all the other bills will get paid somehow. I don't honestly see how that will be possible since we sometimes barely have the money to pay our bills. I don't even think we will be doing Christmas this year. (Please don't feel sorry for us because at least we have food and shelter) If anyone has an opinion or can help, that would be great. And if you want me to post this as a new topic I will, just let me know!!

billygirrl...type Kevin Trudeau in the search bar at the top of the page...there is a thread on him. Your husband must have watched an infomercial on TV..this man has previously touted information on how to improve your memory..and how to loose weight and who knows what else! He's just a wealth of knowledge...see for yourself!

jcemt..I once heard a story about the Brooklyn bridge..we got a great deal on that one! Hope that person no longer being a guest hasn't scared this helpful person on sight into hibernation! Often a direct response after only being a guest on site might be a bit scary..hope brooklyn /collectorman sticks around and posts on the up and up from now on!
I have a question, since your a collection agent. If I requested validation on a account and told you I would pay it in full, one payment. Why would a CA not send me the validation?
Maybe thay can't, but they're still hopeful of a payday. It's difficult to send what you don't have.
