Genesee Valley Associates at this number 1 800 392 3100 is planning to sue us for the amount we owe of seven thousand seven hundred dollars ...This is for an unpaid bill that we had with union bank credit card. IT started in collections in may of 06 and we did not respond to their repeated calls and now in febuary 07 we are being sued..An attorney named Douglas Radcliff is suing us he wants us to pay them the 7700 dollars we owe by the 19th of febuary...This is not possible. We are willing to make monthly payments i told him but he does not want to hear it..Do you think this is legit? Do you think Genesee Valley Associates really are going to take us to court? They said that someone is going to show up at our house in a few days...We do want to pay this i lost my job in may and i was the one paying it..Its my fathers account though he is disabled from a stroke and he has a pension he gets every month for 1400. THey are really scaring me...What can they actually do? Can they touch his bank account? We are willing to make payments in increments montly but they dont want to hear it...He sounds very threatening...I feel so bad for my father since i got him into this i kept putting it off till now...The collection agency, Genesee Valley Associates, was atlantic express who gave it over to this attorney...My friend says its a scame that they are all the same thing...i need feed back please..If we show up at court what can they actually do to us? Any info is appreciated thanks

loser named Joe Stein keeps calling my house saying I co-signed a loan and needed to pa my bills. First off this guy is harassing my children! Second after getting rude and me getting rude back he hangs up but then calls back 3 minutes later asking me what my problem is why dont I pay my bills. I told him I do pay my bills (with several expletives in there). He then changes his story and tells me I co-signed a loan with my ex-husband. WRONG! I had a loan on my home, under my name only and I paid it off in full with the mtge company 5 yrs ago! Never late once! So as for "anonymous" your so full of sh*t and u know you work for GVA. You must be so proud to rip people off an harass people. Get a real job. The only positive comments on here are those losers from GVA. After standing up to this guy on the phone telling him I knew they were frauds (along w/ several more expletives!) I have not gotten one call since!

Boy, I wish I'd look it up here before I made the arrangements to pay monthly for this old bill! It is my late husband's debt and it will be eight years in July since his death. However, I was sitting in my car (not driving, just parked in front of my son's place) when the call came in and I had no reference, no way to even take notes. Now, here comes this charge in my account and I'd never heard of Genessee before. If the debt is that old, but I've made monthly arrangements, is there anything I can do? I've struggled for all this time to make good on most of his debts, but I'm strapped right now.

I am currently being called by GVA and they ARE nasty and mean. The credit card bill isn;t mine, I was just a user on the account (my father) and when I pissed him off she cancelled the account and i'm being made responsible. I make meager wages and offered $5 a month.... I missed one payment because I had surgery and not near my house for a few weeks and they are threatening COURT....

Unsure-if you are only an authorized user and not a co-signer then you are in no way, shape or form financially responsible for it! They can threaten all they want but they cant touch you. Send them a DV letter and also state in it that you were only an AUTHORIZED USER on the account and not responsible for it. State that they are to no longer call you at ANY number! Then just ignore them.

I received a collections call from Mat at GBA trying to collect a debt in a family members name. He gave me the account number of the debt and stated it dated 2007. I took down the information, told him I was not aware of the debt and that if it is legitimate I would pay it. Rudely he replied "legitimate? I don't know what that means". I started to explain and he interrupted and said "i'm not a moron sir, I know what legitimate means". I requested documents to establish validity of the debt. He replied (rudely) "check your credit report. You have 24 hours to pay or we will file legal action" and hung up. We pay our bills timely and have a respectable credit score. I pulled a current credit report with all three agencies for both my wife and myself. Neither the creditor nor the account number referenced by Mat appeared on either of our credit reoprts. I called back, explained everything and told them I would be sending them a letter stating I am not aware of the alleged debt and this debt is not mine - cease and decist collections efforts. They refused to give me their address or fax number. After 10 minutes of debate, he reluctantly gave me a fax number. The fax number was wrong and would not go through. I called them back once again and after an argument, they gave me a valid fax number which I presume is really theirs but refused to give an address. The conclusion I draw from this is that this company has purcahsed old bad debt and is phishing for someone he can bully into paying for someone elses debt at the threat of legal action.
