i have been having problems with debt for a while. i picked a bad industry to go into. the economy is shot here and job lay offs are almost inevitable. i now have a good paying job bartending but i really need to get everything set up so i dont have creditors contacting me, and intrests acrewing constantly. who do you sugest i should go through? my credit is in the toilet, and it all started back in 2000 when i was layed off and forced to use my credit cards to stay afloat. i was unemployed for almost three months!

Are you already signed with the previous company? Since you have been enrolled with them for quite some time, you are in the right position to ask for the results of negotiations with the creditors. They must show you the accounts that are on the verge of settlement. If there are no results coming out, read the fine contract thoroughly and see if there is any provision to claim for a refund due to consumer dissatisfaction. Speak with any attorney if that helps in resolving the matter. Since you are also expecting creditors???????? calls and the debt is adding up with interests, you need to shop for a better company. Call the creditors and put your settlement proposals. Take help from the DIY section. This will give you some directions.
