Fixing my credit and reports on my credit
Date: Sun, 02/11/2007 - 04:36
My question is, do the CA report to credit agengcies and how will it look on my credit once the "real debt" is paid off. My credit report isn't showing that I'm paying off the accounts so it looks like they are still sitting there will seriously outstanding balances.
Thanks for the help.

:) Alright, lets get strated. First to get the most accurate picture, order you reports from each individual bureau. Credit monitoring is very good to have with its ability to alert you of any changes. The reason for each individual report is to look hard for errors.
Next go to ftc.gov and download pdf files for Fair Credit Reporting Act and Debt Collection Practices Act.
Study this information as it gives you a lot of individual rights when disputing with credit bureaus and when dealing with third party collections.
Once you understand everything in these laws.Review your reports and compare the credit information that you have to see if there are erors. Dispute and correct errors.
Remember if any creditor in reporting wrong on report it must be corrected. This is federal law so don't let anyone scare you into believing anything else.
Lastly, you may be able to get collection agency off report by doing a pay for delete agreement. It must be in writing.

If you have not received your annual copy yet,you are allowed to. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and follow prompts to visit and get all three reports.
There is one catch they don't tell though. If you dispute off of free report it gives bureaus an extra 15 days to review. Not really a big deal since most bureau disputes take a while anyway.

I went through the website and Equifax was the only one that I could get. The other 2 said that they could not verify me. Then Experian wants to charge me $10. Its only $10 but I thought we were supposed to get it for free.

If it did not verfify you what most likely happened is they have an old address in there that is making their fraud protection kick in. You will need to call experian and transunion by phone to verify identity. Go to their websites and retrieve their numbers. experian.com,transunion.com,& equifax.com

When I pulled my report there are addresses on there that I have never lived at not do I know where they are. Should I dispute those or just leave them as they are.

Addresses are historical data. The best way to dispute them is to send in copy of drivers license with all info blacked out except address. They will probably want rent or utility receipt too. Put letter in writing stating that information enclosed is correct and tell them to remove all the bad addresses or personal info.
