Internet payday loans calling at work and making threats

I-Collect is the company that collects debts from certain internet PDL's and then they turn them over to Bass & Associates. Bass then trys to collect the debts by harrassing people and requesting crazy amounts. Tell them you need the debt validated and until that happens you will not be sending any money. Tell them not to call you at your place of employment and that you will be filing a complaint with your Attorny General's office. Do you know the names of the PDL's you are dealing with?

These are all under the BMG Group I believe.

Also, what state do you live in?

Call the loan places and make your payment proposals. You don't have to deal with any collection company if the lender takes payments directly from you. They will update your file and pull it back from the CA hired for collections.

Jan, First odf all Welcome to the forums., Go to http://www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up your state laws on payday lending. In many states payday lending is ILLEGAL. Also check with your secretary of states website to see if they are licensed to do business in your state. Send complaints in to your Attorney General Consumer Division department ASAP. Jan and moderators, do you know how to reach crown lending or BMG or Bass? I cannot reach crown lending to resolve the loan issue and I notice many people are trying to reach them on this forum

BMG stands for Bahamas Marketing Group (office located in Kansas (the address is somewhere on this website). They turn delinquent accts over to I-Collect and then over to United Pay Services. My friend has a loan with Crown Lending also and ever since she defaulted she has not heard one word from them and doesn't have any contact info for them. She legitimately owes them like $150!! It has been more than a month since she defaulted on them. I told her maybe no news is good news!

my husband got a threatening phone call from someone who works for midland marketing. He told my husband that he was calling the authorities to have him arrested. Now this is apparently for a loan taken out in 2005. We have not heard a word, received notice of a problem, and if we remember correctly, we tried to contact the company back then, but was unable to talk to someone. Now, this is the first phone call we get in 3 years. Is this legal for WI?

It is an illegal threat. They can not have you arrested. Tell them to F-off.

I have gotten threatening phone

I got a threatening call about a loan that i dont even remember taking out for $500.THey said i have to appear in court in California.Mind you i live in new and i'm broke.But they are willing to pay for the flight and have the cops pick me up and take me to the airport.Something about criminal charger againt my ss # and all this other stuff.He couldn't even give me the name of the company or wheni took this loan out.They had heavy accents and wante a notirized letter faxed to them saying that i will pay them back if not i will have to appear before the judge in california.is this real or what?

Next time they call tell them you've captured their phone number and have reported them to FTC for making threatening phone calls which is illegal. Tell them according to the law they need to validate the debt and to send you supporting information. Tell them they are not allowed to call you at work; only contact you via mail, or they will be liable for fine.

That may stop them......especially if they are illegal and you have no knowledge of this debt. I can't believe the lengths these people will go to collect money. :mad:

I got a call saying i have to appear in court in california by monday the 7th or esle i will be sobpeonad.I live in new york,broke .I cant fly to ca. THey offered to pick me up by the cops and they will pay for the flight.All for a payday loan i did not get for $500.They said i could pay 65% of the fees.Allthis madness.Should i believe this.Is that legal?IS this true?
