The BBB says they have a satisfactory record. You can send them a cease and desist letter via certified mail/return receipt, requesting that they do not contact you or any of your family by telephone, and to send all future correspondence in writing via USPS mail. If they continue to call, they will be in violation of fdcpa regulations.
I would think that because your son was a minor when the bill was originated, and you were listed as the responsible party financially, they wouldn't tag your son's credit, but now that he is over 18, I wonder if that's a possibility.

I think you have already mentioned this post in some other thread and said that the medical bill is disputed with the dr's office. You need to inform the collection agency about the debt already disputed with the dr's office. Send it in writing, CMRRR, so that you have proof of your actions.

I'm currently paying a debt through RAB. I haven't had too many issues with them but I'd definitely send them a cease and desist letter and a DV letter. As is the case with most of the people working for these CA's, the people I've dealt with aren't terribly bright. Don't let them pester you and ensure you send the letters via certified mail with return receipt. If there is a valid debt involved, after you've verified it, don't let them scare you into making payments you can't afford. In addition, don't make payments with a credit/debit card, checking/savings account, or automatic withdrawal from a bank account. Send them a money order or cashiers check every month and all will be well.

You're son was a minor at the time, you were the guardian and guarantor. No they can not do this, if they put it on his credit report, dispute it.

The debt was already signed by the son when he was 16, maybe there was a guardian or guarantor involved. But the papers were in the son's name.
Just like any payments did on the account would have been reflected in his account, as he is in default right now, it will show up in his credit just as it is.

The son definately is not responsible, since he was only 16 at the time.
This would be like the son being able to take out a credit card in his name at that age--and as the mother of a 17-year-old and a 21-year-old, I can tell you for a fact that Visa and Mastercard don't do business with teens!

thanks to everyone for the replies - they help alot. I am ready to send a cease & desist letter on Monday. Just to clarify - my son never signed anything - and as a matter of fact, they never got the agreement signed by me either. I have the original in my possesion. So they should never have kept sending the medication and since they never got any payments, and they still sent the medicine, and then waited 2 1/2 years to ask me for more money after they said I didn't owe anything...I feel no moral obligation to pay anything more than I did, I have paid so much medical bills my head spins. It just makes my stomach ache when I see the names on callID. DOes anyone know how sue-happy RAB is? and am I correct that the sol for an UNSIGNED medical issue would be 4 years? thanks
