Get the debt validated by this collection agency. It is your legal right to review the information for which they are doing collections. Always be an informed consumer. Know your rights mentioned in the FDCPA when dealing with the collection companies.

I am not sure what either one of you being disabled(alamo2001 and paul jones) has to do with your posts. If you can provide additional information and perhaps then we can help you. Being disabled is not an excuse to not deal with life issues. I have MS and am wheelchair bound, so I too am diasbled. And for heavens sake MrJones, don't ever post personal information (your phone #)on a public website. You are just asking for trouble.

The company is called Great Lakes Collection Agency. They say they are inspectors to scare you. They do not know their collections stuff because they do not say that this is an attempt to collect a debt. That is what they are suppossed to say in Texas. Well anyway, good luck to ya.

paul jones--this is a public website, and it is not in any way affiliated with the company thats calling you. I can appreciate your position, but posting that message here will not do anything to stop the calls because we arent the ones calling you.

Also, please consider finding a moderator and asking them to remove your telephone number from the post. Just for your protection.

Dear [name]:
It has come to my attention that you have made an unauthorized use of my copyrighted work entitled [name of work] (the "Work") in the preparation of a work derived therefrom. I have reserved all rights in the Work, first published in [date], [and have registered copyright therein]. Your work entitled [name of infringing work] is essentially identical to the Work and clearly used the Work as its basis. [Give a few examples that illustrate direct copying.]
As you neither asked for nor received permission to use the Work as the basis for [name of infringing work] nor to make or distribute copies, including electronic copies, of same, I believe you have willfully infringed my rights under 17 U.S.C. Section 101 et seq. and could be liable for statutory damages as high as $150,000 as set forth in Section 504(c)(2) therein.
I demand that you immediately cease the use and distribution of all infringing works derived from the Work, and all copies, including electronic copies, of same, that you deliver to me, if applicable, all unused, undistributed copies of same, or destroy such copies immediately and that you desist from this or any other infringement of my rights in the future. If I have not received an affirmative response from you by [date give them about 2 weeks] indicating that you have fully complied with these requirements, I shall take further action against you.
Very truly yours,

I dont know if I am in the right place or not here. I think it was 2005 that I paid Lazarus off through a debt collection agency called GreatLakes collection agency. I believe I paid some large sums of money and the interest was taken off the balance. Is there any way to find out the details?
