CRAs reporting different information
Date: Tue, 02/20/2007 - 00:36
They have been sold to a debt collector. From 1 CRA they both appear under the debt collector's name. On the other 2 CRA reports they appear under the original creditors' names.
All 3 CRAs have reported balances as recently as late last year, even though there has been no activity on this account since 2002-ish.
I am currently disputing the debt with the debt collector, assuming I get it removed by the debt collector, how do I make sure it is reported properly to all 3 CRAs?
Thanks in advance!

If this item is reporting under both orginal creditor and collector you need to see how it is reporting.Normally when debt is sold oc can list charge off transferred or sold.Balance should be zero on oc. If you find any errors dispure with cras to correct.

If the debt is already sold to the CA by the original creditor, you can't have the collection company removed from your file even by disputing with the bureaus. However, all reports must show the original creditor with the zero balance and the latest balance posted under the collection company.

Anything can be removed from a credit report!!!!! All you have to do is prove to cra it has incorrect info on report. The bureau and data furnisher are required by federal law to ensure reports have correct info.

I'm pretty sure I CAN have the CA removed if they can't properly verify the debt.
I figure the original creditor should be reporting it at $0 or ChargeOff since it has been sold. I guess it is kind of odd. Under one reportin agency it lists the Collection Agency as the account holder with the balance and all, on the other two agencies it is currently reporting the original creditor with the same balance. Is the collection agency doing something I can take action against since this debt has definitely been sold and they are having information updated on my report that lists the original creditor by name?

They would not be able to list a debt under any name but their own as collection agency is a subscriber with unique e-oscar code.Every data furnisher has their own code.So if there are mistakes on reports,go ahead with cra disputes and work on it from there.

Thanks for the advice, and all the quick replies I've been receiving, although I'm still a little confused and not sure I'm getting my information out there correctly.
Here is how it looks on a 3 CRA report:
It even lists them as opened 8/2006. The original account was opened closer to 2000, and has had no activity since maybe 2002 or 2003, it is not on my credit report anywhere except on this line under collection accounts. Is the collection agency illegally reaging this account?

You need to pull from individual bureaus, those trimerges are not accurate enough to prove out a dispute like we are entertaining. Get each seperate one and look over account. Post that with private info removed and I can point you in the right direction.
