hey fedup,
I went and looked at that last night. My thing was, how could you disclose my social in an email out of all things to anyone. That was to be against the law, they offered me 1 year of credit monitoring to make up for, and to withhold additional fees for one time only of course. so this lends me to believe that it was a big mistake and some kind of way they could get in trouble for that.

I'm sure they can get in big trouble for giving you SS# out! I don't even give my SS# to my friends. Why would they have the right? I would report them to your Attorney General's office. I'm sure they're going to think it's a big deal. Don't let them off the hook that easily. Good luck.

Contact an attorney and asked them. You may want to call the attorney general office in your state. Do you know what state they are licensed in, report it to that attorney generals office to. They are defineatly in violation of the law, just can't figure out where to report it. I would guess call your attorney generals office or your state department of banking some one should be able to direct you. keep us updated.

i have a cash loan with cashnet usa and with about 12 other companys i had to close my previous bank account due to fraud being committed on my account and ever since it has been a complete nightmare!!! now i am in an even deeper hole with these pay day loans. i have had some of these companies call me at work and threaten me continuously! i had one company (midland market loan) tell me they would come to my job and "pick me up" if i didnt send them $400 i was terrified. i ended up submitting a complaint to the BBB. now i have been getting advice fron a debt consolidation company and i was advised they cannot put you in jail for these debts. i am trying to pay off these loans but its very difficult with only 1 job.

What state are you from? and what companies do you have these loans with? How long have you been paying on them? Alot of these companies violate laws and if you have been paying for a long time, you will find some help here that will help you through it. Some people even end up getting refunds. Please provide the information so that forum members can help you.

It is looking like your did over pay and should request a refund. Print your state law off so you have it in front of you when you do the math on what you should have paid. If they are licensed in your state they should abide by the law.
Also, I would request that cashnet mark your loan paid in full since they violated your privacy by disclosing your social security number, inform them that you are reporting them to your attorney generals office and the FTC for violation of the Patriot Act.

go to this site and do a search for social security privacy, there is some good information on redacted information that florida has put into place for public records and what can be in them.

The link above covers a county putting private information out their for public viewing. I would think that if you did a deeper search here you can find what you are looking for. Also check the florida department of banking website, it should be full of law that covers privacy. You did say cashnet is licensed in florida right?

Wow, that is cool, they were still over paid. I was happy to get a paid in full off any of them, even if I felt they owed me money, just wanted rid of them. Have you had any luck with the others yet?
