I signed up for a payday loan from LOANSHOP/MROREAD, have been trying to get information to pay them off and they were "hiding". Took a loan out for $300 in March of '06 and am still paying on it, I though money was going to the principle but it was not, I have paid $180 per month for the past 12 months, so for a $300 loan i have paid back $2160. Can I stop payment on this loan by going through my bank or what other recourse do I have. Please advise, this would be half the downpayment on my new house if I had all this money back.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

First, either put a stop payment on this company or open a new account and close that one to prevent them from taking more money. Chances are you have been paying for so long you have already paid the principal and legal interest your state allows. File a complaint with your AGs office and as the resolution demand they mark your account paid in full. I wouldn't worry about paying these people back any more money. Also demand a refund of the illegal charges. BUT stop them from accessing your account IMMEDIATELY.

What state do you live in, you need to make sure this company has been charging you the correct interest according to your state. Definatly block the debits from this account and once that happens they will definatly be looking to contact you. That is a lot of money paid back and depending on your state laws you may be able to fight for a refund.

There is a google bar at the top of this page. Do a search with the company name and you will read different topics on that particular company. Maybe, you will get the address somewhere in between the posts. If I am not wrong, they maybe affiliated with PD6 Ventures. Their phone number is 1-800-859-6439 ext 358 or ext 231. Fax number is 866-323-6555
