Can these companies contact your employers? I got a message that a Jackson Cherry from Geneve Roth has been trying to contact my supervisor. I live in Maine and I have found out internet loans are illegal here. What can I tell him when he contacts me today?

Technically they can contact your employer . . . . Legally they aren't allowed to say anything about your debt, but most pdl's that contact employers are just trying to embarrass and humiliate you into paying the debt. That being said some people have posted that the pdl's told their bosses that they were deadbeats, theifs, and losers that don't pay their bills. Your safest course of action if you think they are trying to contact your supervisor is to tell your supervisor about your situation. Tell them that this company is acting illegally and you are in the process of disputing the debt. Tell your supervisor that they harrass people and to just hang up if they try to contact them.

That is starting to be my concern over this Joseph, Steven and Associates that called here the other day and wanted to speak to a comptroller or the owner and would not give any other information other than the name of their company and that they were doing a financial investigation. My boss here knows about it, so if they call here again, he can handle it, but if they call one of our other places, I don't know. We have several locations, so....
