Can anyone suggest a good lawyer to fight collection agencies?

texas,
I can not find a lawyer near me in pa on the naca site. I looked on it earlier, I called the original lender on my account to find out when the last payment was made by me. They told me that it was made in 9/05, for $286. This is impossible, I know I did not make this payment to them and haven't sent them any money in 6 years or more. I think they did this, changed the date so it would fall into the SOL in my state. Have you ever heard of a credit card company doing this? I sent them a letter requesting a full statement of the account. (the original company) and sent a debt validation letter to CACH and their lawyers. I will show up and fight this in court.

It is called re-aging a debt. It happens when unethical companies try to circumvent the reporting laws and try to destroy your statute of limitations defense.

There are a bunch of lawyers in PA who do this type of work. Even if they are not near you, contact some of them. I am able to represent people all over Texas. We just do the paperwork by email or fax. They can probably do the same.

fedupinpa,

Although I don't know of any lawyers in PA, I would suggest that you contact the lawyers at Luftman, Heck & Associates and see if they could refer you to someone in your area. Their phone# is 614-224-1500 or you could email them at info(at)lawlh.com. Who knows, maybe they have a 'sister' office in PA. Secondly, do you know of anyone who has a pre-paid legal plan? Perhaps they could get the name of a lawyer for you or if you don't know anyone who has a prepaid legal plan, visit their website at prepaidlegal.com. From looking at their website, I found that the plan is available in PA, but I am not sure they could help. It would be best to contact them for state specific laws regarding your situation. I do know they have a team of lawyers who specialize in different areas. I previously owned a plan and they assisted me when I was the victim of a scam.
