I had money taken from ny account with these initials CPRS, has anybody heard of them?

I found on the BBB website that CPRS is Certegy Payment Recovery Services as Morningstar has stated. They are a check collection agency and their address is:
Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc.
P.O. Box 2864
Tuscaloosa, AL 35403
(205)469-3115
I also found something else that CPRS could stand for. It is an internet shopping service called CPR Service and their address is:
CPR Service
1322 Buffalo Road
Rochester, NY 14624
(585)235-2330

This HAS to be a scam. They left a message to call their 800 # so I dialed it. The message tells me that they are a debt collection company and I should give them my Bank routing # and account # so that they can satasify My debt???
They called my companies 1-800 number fopr the order line.
How stupid do you have to be to leave all your bank data on a nameless - faceless - phone line ??? They clean out your bank account ion a heart beat.

I received a call the other day from Certegy (so the caller said) for a family member who hasn't lived in my house for around five years. The guy left 1-800-873-5869 no. and a claim no. and he told me that by law he could not tell me what the call was about. When I called that 1-800 no., they said they were CPRS. Plus they also said they had no record of the name and account no. If you search Certegy, you get a company who had an employee steal the data on clients and sell it off to who knows who.

About a week before this I received a different call for the same family family member but they refused to leave a message or tell me who they were. First time in over four years I have gotten a call for this particular family member

I SUSPECT SCAM.

So how does one stop this automated recording identifying themselves as a collection agency-attempting to collect a debt. Wouldn't you think in this year 2008 cell phones would be programmed to BLOCK a call (they don't). So how do I stop that annoying call?

My 80 year old mother rec'd a call from these people yesterday claiming they were a collection agency and had an NSF check written by my father in Nov. 08. Problem is.... Daddy died in Mar. 08. So Mom got all their info and refused to give them her checking info (thank goodness). Am reporting them to the fcc.gov now for fraud.

I am not a US citizen but started receiving call son my Skype-in number (USA number). Funny how a debt collection agency tries to collect a debt from a foreign national.... I have no business in the USA and will not have. I don't write US-checques or use a US credit card etc...
They are on rpp-off reports by the way So I blocked the caller :)

or just google: cprs debt

SCAMMERS!

I have been receiving calls from CPRS for months but I don't owe any money anywhere. When I try to anwer the call, the line disconnects. When I let it go to the answering machine, it is that same non-descript woman's voice advising that it is not a sales call and they are trying to collect a debt - please call 1-800-873-5869.

I tried getting through their phone menu system and since they do not have my name on file (of course, since I don't owe any money) they sent me to an agent. The first time, I get a recording because it's 10 minutes after 10PM Pacific Time and they only have live agents until 8PM CENTRAL TIME. After a few more tries that never get through, today I actually got a live agent. The guy does not identify himself and I tell him that they have been calling my number for months so what do they want? He says that they are trying to collect a debt from Jennifer Sims. I told him that's nice but this is MY number and I don't know any Jennifer Sims so he says that they will take my number out of their files. I told him that they have been calling for months and waking me up and I'm not happy with them because I work nights. My phone display still shows that the call is active but his end of the line is dead! Now I'm REALLY PO'd. They could have avoided this if they had just run my phone number with Qwest...or even left a phone message with the name of the person that they were trying to reach. But with this kind of business model, they can only piss off the world. So after I post this, I will be sending a letter to the BBB and my state's attorney general. Hope all of you equally irritated people will do the same.

SCAM!

They have been calling me about two nine dollar charges from godaddy.com. I called Go Daddy to see what they what charges they had referred to collection and why, as they had my credit card on file and auto debeted me for domains. They said they had not referred anything out, and it turned out "CPRS" just yanked info of the domain registration and started calling me to try to get me to pay a fake 'debt'.

SCAMMERS!!!!!

I called the Maine State Attny General, who referred me to the state licensing board for debt collection services.

I talked to the guy there who said that there was no "CPRS" licensed to collect debts in Maine. I gave him the 800 number (800-330-2172) and he called it and found that it was:

Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc.
P.O. Box 2864
Tuscaloosa, AL 35403
(205)469-3115

Certegy is licensed, however, they are not registered to collect debts under the name "CPRS". He had trouble even getting through their maze of a phone system to find out who they actually were. He is sending me the paperwork to file a complaint against them and he has pointed out that they have gone against the law in NOT sending letters and giving thirty days to dispute the charge. They have to prove to you that you owe the debt, not just call and demand a payment.

If money was taken from you by these people, you have a legal right to recover the money. Even if it wasn't, file complaints against these people before they steal from more grannys!

File a complaint with the Federal Trade Comission: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/phonefraud/report.shtml

Call your state Attorney General's office: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php register the complaint with them, and then contact your state board that licenses collection agencies and file a complaint with them. (This is the one in Maine: http://www.maine.gov/portal/index.php 800-332-8529)

I pay my bills so I knew something was wrong when they called me but I thought some one had tried to steal my identity so I called CPRS to find out what was going on. Who knew the CPRS was going to be the scammers. Please contact your attorney General in your state to file a complaint. Hopefully they will eventually prosecute these scammers who either harass or steal information or money from innocent people. They should go to jail for life...........

Do not even call this company back they will try to get current address and when they give you the wrong bank you are tempted to correct it with the right bank. SO then they have your new phone number which they told me that got from something called search skip. SO if they can get you phone number verified and the right bank and your address it is one even more information for them to sell to someone trying to steal you identity or CPRS WILL USE IT THEMSELVES WHICH IS PROBABLY WHAT IS HAPPENING

I'd been receiving daily calls at work from these people with some fast-talking guy leaving messages on my general voicemail box, saying that this was an attempt to collect a debt. I don't owe anyone a red cent, so I finally got tired of these people calling and decided to call them back. I got thru the layers of prompts pretty quickly by saying " I don't have one" to both of the first questions about control # and phone #. I was quickly connected to a live person. I spoke to a woman named Marissa and told her no such person was at this phone number and she quickly stated she would notate her records and the calls would stop immediately. We shall see....
