I believe debt collectors can call 7 days a week between the hours of 8am til 9pm in your time zone.
CA's can legally call 7 days a week from the hours of 8am to 9pm

What type of personal information?? When I was collecting defaulted loans, we were required to collect all types of information, some which some people considered personal. Family size, income, employment, spousal information. Depending on the type of debt, there would be really nothing to talk to anyone about.

Just some info on the call times. They cannot call when they know it is iconvenient. The federal law presumes this is between 8 am and 9 pm. But if you work nights or some other odd schudule and a collector knows that, the legal time window changes.

It is amazing how things have changed over the years. I use to work for a collection agency many, many moons ago (did filing, letters, etc) and the collectors were not allowed to call on Sundays and could only call on Saturdays up to 5:00 PM. I know a few months back we got a call for my ex at 7:45 AM! Did not answer the phone that morning. Did not recognize the number, so let the machine get it.
Allied Interstate
Hello, I have an old sprint bill that went into collections with allied interstate for the amount of $421.38. They sent me a letter for a settlement offer of $294.97. Should I take the deal or not? I took a settlement offer 7 yrs ago on a car debt. Three years ago when i was getting financed for a car that issue came up. I guess it looked like the account was'nt settled on my report. If i take this settlement offer from allied, what should i say or what type of documentation should i ask for from them to be sure that my credit report is dealt with properly? Or, could i bypass them all together and just pay sprint the full amount of $421.38? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It would depend on what your credit report says. If it was charged off, then you no longer owe Sprint anything, only the collectors who now own your debt.
If legit, it sounds like it could be a pretty good deal. You would want a SIF (settled in full) letter, or perhaps better, a PIF (paid in full) letter. See what you can negotiate for.
It would probably be a good idea to send them a debt validation letter, and separate letter disallowing all communication via telephone (send certified mail).

To 2nband:
When I was in collections, I had to work 4 hours every Saturday form 8 am to 12 pm, or Sunday, from 12 pm to 4 pm. What a pain that was. What a waste of my time it was, too.
There is no excuse for a 7:45 am call. Did you report that one? I believe you have a year to do so.
why would you call an ex spouse of ten years and the ex spouses
why would you call an ex spouse of ten years and the ex spouses parents for a person who owes you money

Guest...nobody here is calling you..we are not Allied Interstate. It is a public message board. Call back the number that is calling you and get the address. Then send a cease and desist letter telling them never to call you again.
