I'm so sorry..That's a big change that you'll have to get used to. I didn't notice you being testy at all, but I sure as hell couldn't blame you if you were!

Hang in there..A lot can happen between now and then. I know it's going to be hard, but keep your chin up. It'll work out the way it's supposed to. And don't forget..We're here for you.

Wow, that's a real shame!
My advice to you is to take advantage of everything your company offers: severance and any type of help in getting a new job. Although it still stinks, the fact that they gave almost 4-months notice is a good thing. Will they take anyone with them?
Hang in there, like Fins said, we're just a mouseclick away!

They are offering a couple jobs and you have a choice to go.. but my position is going back to Japan... I am going to talk to my boss today about one job in SC.. the others are in Chicago ( I am from there and dont want to go back) But I have a large network in the field that I am in.. Just need to put the word out when I am ready I know I will be fine the hard part is that I am actually the new person everyone else has been here 10 years plus so we are like a family. And that will be hard to give up..
But thanks for all the support..
Judy

Well I came in this morning and put my hat in the ring for South Carolina.. I guess I will know in a few weeks But I am ready to go if they will take me. Spoke to my son last night and he is supporting my choice.. If he cant make it on his own he will go stay with his Dad or join me ( of course he could be in school in Vermont) that would be the best. But I think that SC could be good for me... a new start. I will post when I know.. BUT if not I will get a job here in CAL.
thanks everyone for the kind words..
Judy

Judy,

I hope that you get the job in South Carolina. If not, then at least you have enough time to look for another one. I was laid off in January after 6 years with the company. I walked in one morning and walked out an hour later. This came after having to apply for the same position (that I had been doing for years) because we merged with another company and another gal worked in the office. I had made up my mind to leave and was offered another position closer to home. The old job offered me more money to stay and promised me I would have nothing to worry about. So, I stayed because I believed them. Two months later, I got the boot. I was floored and I can understand what you are going through. Hang in there! I am still looking for a decent job that will pay me what I'm worth so there are times I kick myself in the butt for staying in the first place.

I am sorry to hear that a company would do that but not surprised.. They do only have one thing in mind what is best for the Company..
They could have left corp here in CALIF.. but then the presdent of the Company would have to move here.. Now we know why corp is going to Ill..
Oh well they have been very good to me for the years I have been here.. I will just wait and see.. but thanks for all the kind words..

anyone have a way to turn off the stress :D I cant beleive it Yesterday I went to get my hair done and I have a BIG bald spot.. all from stress.. I have long hair so it is covered BUT I just cried.. They only thing I like is my hair.. I think it is time to just let go.. and work through July 1 and then look for a job in california.. I spoke to the controller and she made a very good point..
'it is the people that made this company a wonderful place we are all the same age (47-49) and we have seen the kids grow and marraiges Divorces, death of parents and been though good times and bad.. we are a family after all the years that what it was.. so going to SC it would not be the same all the people will be different.. I might as well change jobs new people and yet get to stay in Califonia with my friends that I grew up with and my support system..
So I think I made up my mind ( i just hope I have HAIR.... :? )

Judy- sorry to hear about your job-hang in there! I was layed off after 14 years, with no warning! They cut funding, and my office was the one the boss chose! And I was the only counselor with as mcuh time, other than the boss! It sounds like the stress of your current job isn't worth it anyway, SC is a beautifull place. Take Care, you're in my prayers..Karen :D

Well I am Staying in California...
Cant believe I am saying this.. But even with the same pay. I cant afford to live in SC.. having rent control in Calif and living in the same place for 10 years.. Nice area my rent is to low to give up.. and a job here close to home I make out and get to stay by my family and friends..
My job just couldnt give me more money and justify it in SC.. I think I knew this all along..
I think I am going to take a month off and just relax and get my head back on straight.. besides it will be July to Hot to get dressed for a interview... :) not to mention I will never get the chance to take a month off again...
