I started out w/ good credit. I had only 2 credit cards. I was living w/ my grandmother w/ only 2 credit cards and car insurance to pay. I moved out on my own aquired more credit cards (up to about 8) and between trying to pay rent, school expenses, buy groceries, and paying car insurance, paying my credit card monthly payments just were'nt at the top of my list. Then my hours got reduced at work. I ended up finding another job only for the same thing to happen when I went from working full time- to working only 2 days a week. Making only $7.50 an hour my checks were just enough to pay rent and barely enough to keep gas in my car to get to work. I got deeper and deeper into a whole with the credit card debt. Jan 3 I started a new job making more money but I was so in the hole and behind in payments plus late fees. It's just hard to get out.

If I was in your place, I would call the credit card companies and let them know that you are willing to pay the debts under a suitable plan. Make sure that you stick to the plan once it gets fixed. They might quote you a lower interest rate and waive off the late payment fees if you do a couple of payments in good faith. You don't want to lose their benefits because of a missed payment. There are more chances of the arrangements getting done because the creditors also want to get their money back at the earliest. Debt consolidation will be a good choice if you are searching for professional help.

Yes I'm actually paying one co. off now. They reduced my balance. I'll be finish paying them by July ! I can't wait. I definitely do need to call those other companies as well.the majority of the debt is just accumulated late fees :(
