I am new here. I am trying to get my credit cleared up, CAn you pay the orginal creditor and not the collection agengcies. I have one collection agency on my credit report but i have like 5 calling me over the same debt. If i pay off the orginal debt to the orginal company will the collection agencyes stop? please help! and thanks sooo much
You should only being paying the company that has either been as
You should only being paying the company that has either been assigned the debt by contract, or the collection agency that has purchased the debt. If you think that paying the original creditor will result in the collection agency not getting paid, you are mistaken. The fee that the collection agency would take will still be forwarded to them, and until marked paid in full, they would still continue collection activity.
To stop the calls, send each collection agency a cease and desist letter that revokes their ability to communicate with you over the telephone. Make sure you send it CMRRR. While you are at it, send seperate debt validation letters to each one (also using CMRRR).
My suggestions for figuring out who to pay:
Contact the original creditor, ask who you pay
or,
Pull your credit report, see if it states who is collecting the debt.
If other posters have suggestions, they will surely post soon.
Work out payment arrangements with the creditors if they haven't
Work out payment arrangements with the creditors if they haven't sold your file to the CA. In that case, tell them that the CA they have hired for collections is calling you for payments. I have no idea why other CAs are calling you unless your file passed from one company to another.
The original creditor will pull your file back from the CA once you pay the account and get the PIF letter. You won't have to pay anything to the CA.
tht is they thing on my credit report it has no credit collectio
tht is they thing on my credit report it has no credit collections but the orgional creditor says they sold it. I am getting no where fast. Send a debt validation letter, CMRRR to each of the collection a
Send a debt validation letter, CMRRR to each of the collection agencies attempting to contact you. You can find a template here:

You may want to put it into your own words, but that is up to you.
Perhaps you can have that avoid hitting your credit once you find out who to pay. In another post, I read of a debtor who was completely unaware of a debt, till contacted by a collection agency. When he explained he wanted to pay, and that he was unaware of the debt, the CA was surprised by the honesty, and agreed that it would not get to his CR.
