I have a checking account with bank of america with some money on it.
I also have a credit card with Bank of america which will be overdue and with missed payments...
Is there any way BoA will try to get my money from the checking to cover the credit card debt?
In this case I think I will transder the money to the checking with another bank
Thanks
Andrei

I would read the disclosures provided when you opened both the checking account and credit card account. Did you sign any agreement that allows BOFA to pull money from your bank account to cover your credit card payments, or is it listed in the disclosures anywhere?
You should probably call BOFA's credit card department and see if you can set up a payment arrangement with them - they may be willing to work something out with you.

Most banks have you sign a form when you open account giving them the right to offset your account.Basically they would take any money in other accounts to apply to the unpaid one.Check your paperwork.

No bank will use the checking account of a consumer to recover his dues in the credit card account, unless it has been specifically mentioned in the contract. Credit card division is completely different from the normal banking system. It will go against the policies if they club multiple accounts without mentioning in the terms.

Credit card contracts are subject to change at the creditors discretion, and the OP would have to look at the terms of the contract signed for the checking account (also subject to change).

I know my bank does have this offset policy! Why you ask?We know because of 6 checking accounts,2 saving accounts, and 3 loans.Only thing we didn't use their bank for was a credit card.If we would its offset policy is still in place. Our bank put it in writing upfront on any account we have with them. I do not consider it a problem cause they get paid on time.
If someone was unfortunate enough to fall behind due to personal reasons, you should check your account information documents for the bank.
thanks all...
I will check it with bank...
By the way, when I mentioned this to the guy with Freedom debt relief (for settlement of debt), he said to open a new account with another bank!!!
