I need to deal with some old debt and I really am trying hard to find a mentor that can teach me exactly how to deal with negotiation of this debt. If there is a good direction in which to go please point me in it. I do not want to join a program or enroll in anything I am really trying to find a mentor. I appreciate your help.

Here's the link of the DIY section. Call your creditors and let them know about your payment plans? You need to be upfront and put your proposals that sound realistic. Don't be in the rush to commit a larger payment that you won't be able to afford later. Most creditors will be willing to work with you. Who are you dealing with?
