I have two credit cards that had been charged off due to delinquencies and I was curious if anyone had any strategies for negotiating to have these accounts restored? While I had previously neglected these accounts, I'm now in a position to address them and would very much like to have the accounts active again. Any suggestions are helpful, personal experiences of a similar manner are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

I am dealing with a collection agency, MRS associates, for my charged-off cap one card. As an aside, they have actually called my mother in law and given her detailed information about the account...Nonetheless... They have offered a settlement amount of 50% of what they say I owe, which is actually the amount of the original debt before fees. The rep I spoke with said they would only accept check by phone, and that they would send me a letter detailing the terms of settlement. I know I need to send a check certified mail, after they've signed an agreement..I'm just not sure what the agreement should say. Any suggestions?

On my credit report, MRS does not show up, only CapOne as charge-off. Will settling the debt with MRS with a written agreement to change status to "paid as agreed" actually even apply to the report from CapOne?
